Happy achievement thread - DD talked to the doctor today 🎉

Was going to post in SN, but decided here instead. Dd is 22, ‘high functioning’ (🙄) ASD. We had a GP appointment today, and for the first time ever, she spoke to the doctor herself, talked about 3 different problems, with minimal input from me. She was visibly VERY nervous, fidgeted, lacked eye contact a lot, but my goodness held her own. I’m so proud of her ❤️❤️❤️

Let’s share positive stories, achievements, whatever they may be.

Well done to your Dd!

I'm really pleased for her.

I suffer from extreme social anxiety myself. My achievemen today was going up and saying something to the woman in charge of the local library. She is quite intimidating and I usually avoid having anything to do with her so that was a big deal for me.

Thank you @Rightandwrong Most people may not understand the achievement, but my dd goes mute and just cannot speak. She asked, out of the blue, on the way there what she should say to start off. I hope I hid my shock and surprise 😁😁

Aww that's great. My DS started his first job today. Didn't need me to get it for him or get him up for it.

My 10 year old DS is autistic, non verbal (never a single word) with severe learning disabilities. It took blood sweat and tears but over the holidays we have put a huge amount of work into toilet training, and he is now in underwear during the day! It's a reminder not to underestimate him. We have some extreme challenges but only a few months ago I thought he would be incontinent forever. it's also saving us a fortune.

That is a major achievement, she should be so proud of herself ❤️

That’s amazing @frazzledbutcalm well done to your DD!
I have quite bad driving anxiety and today I drove a road there and back alone with my young daughter, I have been avoiding this specific route for years! So silly I know but I feel accomplished today.

Thank you ❤️ I’m so proud of her. She struggles so much in everyday life, doesn’t leave the house, doesn’t speak to people, doesn’t have friends etc … She’s very academic, loves learning, it’s just her thing.
