Piles sufferers, did peri/menopause make them worse?

Just that really! I’ve had piles for years - first appeared and confirmed in my 20s, and only had a few serious flare-ups since: in both of my pregnancies and then occasionally at other times. I don’t think they disappear between flare ups, but they go back inside and don’t bother me, as it were! GP usually gives me Scheriproct which sorts them quickly.

This time, the Scheriproct had massively reduced what I think was a thrombosed pile and it’s shrunk and I’m no longer in pain - I can push it back in now when it pops out (sorry for TMI!). It was never bleeding either. But it’s still a bit itchy and annoying after two weeks which made me wonder… is this yet another thing that’s going to become more annoying due to my age? (I am 47 and defo showing some signs of perimenopause…)

It didn't with mine. In fact they haven't flared at all since I started menopause, but now you've reminded them...

Ah well that’s cheering @Vroomfondleswaistcoat- I hope my thread hasn’t summoned them!

I’m 58 and have them now and again when run down. The last one was so big the gp sent me to A&E because she thought it was thrombosed. I spent most of the day there and then told it wasn’t. Witch hazel gel shrank it to nothing very quickly and no sign since. They don’t seem to be more common with menopause though

Thanks @Justwrong68- and sorry you had to to A and E.

they are such a pain! Suspect I’ll be stuck with them forever to a greater or lesser extent…
