We looking for recommendations for a private clinician who can give a firm diagnosis and follow on treatment for our young adult son. We feel they have been misdiagnosed with both dyspraxia and depression, and that their condition is more complex.
They are on antidepressants, which we all feel have not worked, as their daily life struggles are not improving. We understand that we are going to have to pay for it privately which doesn’t matter because we just want to improve their quality of life and for them to be happy. We feel like we have failed them.

You have not failed them you sound so loving and caring. You can do right to choose a provider through nhs and I think the wait list is maybe 2 months but varies on area.

for private, say it’s autism you want then use the official website and go through the options otherwise what I did was my therapist recommended colleagues she knew and trusted.

If you want to post more info about your feelings or the “ daily life struggles” on the SEN boards you will get help and advice there too.
The waiting list is much longer in our area via the NHS pathway.
The NAS has a diagnostic service.
Have you looked on the Dyspraxia foundation website?
The AQ questionnaire may provide valuable information for a clinician. There is an adolescent version.
