If you’ve had an amazing holiday in the past couple of years, please can you recommend the resort to me?

We’re looking at Egypt or Morocco for next Easter - somewhere at least 25 degrees.

Needs to have amazing food, no sunbed wars, and have amazing cleanliness standards.

Budget £4.5k for 2 adults 2 kids flying from Manchester for a week.

Have found some good options with Tui but really keen on personal recommendations - it’s a lot of money for us and we want to make sure it’s the right place.

Thank you!

We went to Sharm at Easter, definitely wasnt that hot, It was around 24 which is good enough for me. Pools were baltic though so bear that in mind if you want to swim, you will need an acclimatised one.

That’s really good to know thank you

Jaz Aquaviva in Makadi Bay is good, and the rooms are great for being able to separate from teens but still be in the same room. It's a bit further out from the main Makadi strip though, so for that reason I would recommend the Jaz Makadi Saraya Resort over it - you can still get a free shuttle bus to the waterpark, and you are closer to the beach for snorkelling.

Again in Makadi Bay the Sunrise Royal Makadi has excellent food, 7 Al La carte restaurants included, a wonderful house reef, mini water park and lots of sports. Evening entertainment is pretty poor though.

Further into Hurghada I would recommend Pickalbatros White Beach - food was great, on the beach, entertainment pretty good and closer to the Hurghada Marina and Sheraton Street which is great for a night out.

if you wanted to splash out, the Pickalbatros Neverland Jungle Aqua Park. It has everything you'd want, it's a massive resort recently extended and has absolutely loads to do. Not on the beach, but there is a shuttle (and mini train) down to their sister hotel (beach isn't great in Hurghada centre though - no reefs). Close to the Senzo Mall too.

Easter is a great time to visit Egypt, and the best time to do a Luxor or Giza trip as it's hot, but not too hot. If you do, go for a private escorted trip, well worth the money, and a much better deal than going with a tour operator.

Off to check all of these out, thank you

we are going to TUI Blue sensatori sharm el sheikh for 10nights at Easter for that price.
We went in January this year and it was lovely, warm days but chilly at night so hopefully a bit warmer in the evening at Easter.
I found their airport absolutely awful though.

What did you think to the food at the Sensatori Sharm? We went for Easter last year, everything, including the weather, was brilliant, but we were disappointed by the food (apart from the speciality restaurants). I remember DH struggling to find something to eat from the buffet one evening, returning to the table with spaghetti, cabbage and veal ….. We’ve always previously stayed in Naama Bay (not AI) and gone out for dinner

I went to Turkey at Easter (mid April a few yrs ago) and it was between 25 - 28° which is perfect. Anything hotter than that and it's un comfortable and in August it was early 40s so horrendous. You can't do anything but sit in the hotel room with the air con in temperatures like that.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi is another good shout with late 20s and early 30s temperatures at Easter.

What were the evening temperatures in Turkey at Easter? And was everything open, bars and restaurants etc?

Turkey can be cool at Easter.
Cape Verde, Canaries or Egypt are your best best. We stayed at the Jaz Makadi Oasis Resort this Easter and loved it. It was HOT!

BG2015 · 04/09/2025 16:35

Pool was heated

Sharm airport can be a total bun fight, not so bad on the way in, but the “going” home experience was crowds, chaos and lots of people shouting. And rather than put each flight into its own departure gate , they funnelled 3 UK-bound flights into one gate (they were all departing within approx 90 mins of each other). There’s quite a bit of info about this on travel forums

What was the food like at the Jaz Makadi, and were you AI?

BG2015 · 04/09/2025 18:02

Food was good. The pizzas at the pool cafe were made in front of you to order and were gorgeous. It's all AI. You can do a dine around and eat at some other Jaz hotels.

Not many English, mostly German, Swedish, French but didn't bother us at all. We didn't have any kids with us but there was loads going on for them. Pool drinks service too.

Not on the beach but it's literally five minutes through a walk way and the hotel has its own area on the beach with food down there too.

We loved Makadi Bay and felt the airport was slightly better than Sharm. We're hoping to go back to Makadi Bay as there was such a lovely vibe there. I think you get a better quality hotel in Egypt compared to the Canaries, only downside is there's no bars, shops or restaurants to go to.

It will definitely be our winter sun destination in the future.

Think you’ve sold it to me! I don’t even want to leave the resort, proper philistine! I just want a week of heat and not having to choose shop for make and clean up meals!

I lived in The canaries for many years.

It’ll be warm throughout the year and easily can be anything between 18-30° in Easter!

what you need to consider though is year round temps. Just because the air in these places in 25° in Easter doesn’t mean the pools will be warm if they have colder winters!

move never been to the places you’re looking so cant advise in good resorts but id advise looking at their year round temps and if their pools are heated or not in April!

PaddlingSwan · 05/09/2025 08:16

We got a last minute to St. Lucia one year. There were 3 of us. It cost us about £4k for 2 weeks.
Sadly last minute has gone off pretty dramatically in the past 10 years.

BG2015 · 05/09/2025 08:53

Wouldn't hesitate to go back. I did a review on Trip Advisor if you want to scroll back to April.

We booked with Holiday Hypermarket.

We are booking the Rixos, might be worth looking at and you can use other hotels too. Entertainment and food looks great.

Rantypanties · 05/09/2025 09:02

Gran Canaria airport was an absolute shit show last month. Hundreds of us queuing for 2 passport gates, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Pilot told us the experience is becoming more common during the summer with the growing anti-tourist sentiment over there. I really wouldn’t recommend the island at all!!!

indoorplantqueen · 05/09/2025 11:11

@Rantypantiesive been to GC twice this year, and at least once per year over the past 5 years. I’ve never experienced what you have so I wouldn’t generalise.

Any sunbed wars?

OP posts:
BG2015 · 06/09/2025 20:07

No, plenty of sunbeds and they put notes on sunbeds/ towels warning people about reserving the. Lifeguards would also move or find extra ones for you if needed.
