We do use monzo as a side bank it's got decent interest rates but I find the layout and how it works awkward to use.

It's for my DD 18.

Ideally somewhere to grow her money and keep it seperste should nationwide get robbed etc

Excellent auto correct 😉

I like Revolut personally.

Planesmistakenforstars · 02/09/2025 07:45

I use Starling and it's great. App is easy to use. I travel a lot, and not having foreign transaction fees is a huge plus. Savings interests rates are good for their instant access account. I would never use Revolut. Problems with fraud, withholding funds, investigations onto money laundering etc.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 02/09/2025 07:50

I've got a Zopa account. One savings pot has an interest rate of 7.5% for the next 12 months, the others 3.25% at the moment. 2% on my current account

I have Starling for travelling, and have had Lloyds for forever (very first bank account).

Ddakji · 02/09/2025 07:51

Revolted 🤣🤣🤣

CastleofMey · 02/09/2025 07:53

Starling - app is easy to use, no foreign transaction fees and they were quick off the mark in messaging me about a failed but potentially fraudulent transaction. Their “Talk to Starling” online chat is quick and efficient.

Tinytigertail · 02/09/2025 07:54

I have Monzo and and Starling. I prefer Monzo for day to day and short haul travel but Starling is excellent for travel further afield.

StaringAtTheWater · 02/09/2025 07:57

I use Revolut for spending abroad as it has the best currency exchange rates. The app is well designed and simple to use, but it's not a good idea to store significant amounts of money on there, as it's not as well protected as most other options. If you are looking for somewhere to store money, it would be better to choose another option.

What are her criteria for judging "neatness"?

Id look at those first and then see which bank ticks the most boxes. Is there a reason for not including any of the traditional banks in your question?

I'm guessing at 18 she's not loaded so interest isn't going to be a huge factor, does she need an overdraft?

StopRainingNow · 02/09/2025 08:00

I love Monzo. I also have a chase account and a revolut but much prefer Monzo

leaderZ · 02/09/2025 08:01

Halifax

KurtCobainLover · 02/09/2025 08:01

I have a Monzo account for day to day spending and a Starling account for bills. I like them both.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 02/09/2025 08:02

We have Monzo personal and business and really like it.

skippy67 · 02/09/2025 08:10

Monzo.

Brianthepug · 02/09/2025 08:37

I have Monzo and Starling. I use Starling for travel abroad ( obviously can use Monzo too). I like Monzo slightly better as they have pots and cashback offers on shopping.
I have a main bank account too.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 02/09/2025 09:13

We use Starling. Got 2.02 Oz dollars to £1 yesterday with no transaction fee ... fabulous.

TaffetaRustle · 02/09/2025 09:42

Brilliant thank you it looks like Monzo pips the post

I just personally find it's quite back and forwards having to do stuff.
The interface isn't clear on transactions and spending etc.
Anyway it's decent enough thank you

I have Chase and Starling. There not much to choose between the two.

I had Monzo but ditched it when they restricted free overseas cash withdrawals.
