Anyone done a murder mystery dinner evening?

I'm contemplating taking a friend for a murder mystery evening with dinner but am worried that it'll be a bit naff!

Has anyone done one and if so was it any good?

The place in looking at is near Guildford, in what looks like a nice hotel.

Thanks!

Yes! It was really good but you have to get into the spirit of it all - are you dressing up?

Agree with KnickerlessParsons - if people enter into the spirit it's great fun.

I’ve done a couple locally that raised money for charity. Amateur actors but great fun and I’ve managed to guess whodunit both times!

I've played a part in a few for charity and as PP's have said, as long as you throw yourself right into it, you'll have a great time.

Each time I do them, we always agree that it's the guests who make it, rather than the actual cast.

Ah, that's interesting, thanks! It hadn't even occurred to me that we'd need to dress accordingly!

Oh yes, it was very knives out and loads of fun.

Did it once with a big group of friends and friends of friends, no other guests, for a friend’s birthday. it was OK, fun and everyone got into the spirit but having to dress up for the assigned character was irritating and costly and the food mediocre. Don’t think I’d enjoy it with strangers.
