Mirena coil, please tell me it gets better

I had a mirena coil fitted in March as was suffering from heavy periods that were really affecting my life. While the coil has meant they are now very light the side effects I’m experiencing are awful and I’m not sure what it worse, the heavy periods resulting in feeling unwell and exhausted or now. I am constantly bone achingly tired, my mood is really low I think partly from the tiredness and I have awful brain fog where I struggle to concentrate. My consultant said when I had it fitted that you need to give it a good 9 months to settle but I just can’t see how all of these symptoms will magically go away in the next few months.

I feel like I’m stuck though as what I was experiencing before was awful but this is just as bad. Really don’t know what to do 😕

I think you need to go back to your GP. I’ve had 4 Mirena coils fitted and never had any side effects. My DSis had her first one fitted and was in agony and had to have it removed.
Don’t struggle on and accept these symptoms when some medical advice could help you.

They don’t suit some people. I think you’d know by now if it was going to make you feel better.

For me… no
For me it was just constant spotting and feeling exhausted and grumpy. I really really wanted to like it and forced myself to give it a good go but there was no change whatsoever in 18 months so out it went. Instant relief.

Thanks for the replies. I’m going to make a gp appointment this week to see about having it removed. I had really hoped this would help me. Dreading going back to the awful heavy periods 😭

Love my Mirena coil, but it doesn’t suit everyone. Are you peri menopause age ? You might need oestrogen in addition to coil to help alleviate symptoms.
