I want to switch to starling bank

I am looking to switch my bank account to starling. I don't have a job but do get money in my account each month from DH. I also have savings of about £10,000. I think I prefer to have all my money in the same place so would like it if starling had a savings account I could use as well so I can quickly transfer funds from one account to the other.

I also know they have pots but I'm not sure if they are just off shoots of your current account or if they are part of a savings account?

I haven't switched my bank account for 20 years so unsure of the processes and how to switch everything over.

Also can you add the starling card to google pay?

Choose the starling easy savers for your savings account as you can add and move money when ever you want to, their other savings account is a fixed 1 year that you can only add money to. You need to open a current account with them and then add the savings acount to it. Yes you can add the card to google pay. They are a brilliant secure bank.

Probably one of the worst banks I have ever used. If you have an issue with your account it’s impossible to get hold of anyone there and they are spectacularly unhelpful if you do finally get through to someone. I switched to wise who pay interest on UK balances and are very easy to get hold of plus provide multi currency accounts which is useful for travelling.

@SimoneHere Not intentionally I was trying to move it to money matters but I realised after it was on another board. Apologies!

@whirlyhead Thanks I will look at wise, the lack on interest on saving spaces is disappointing.

Zopa do what you're looking for.

limecola · 31/08/2025 15:25

@ForLovingAquaSheep Thanks I'll add that to the list of banks to look into.

Have you looked at Monzo if you want an app based bank? They do savings accounts that pay interest and it’s very similar to Starling.

limecola · 31/08/2025 15:29

I hadn't I think starling was pretty perfect but the lack of interest on saving spaces is a bit of a deal breaker. I will look at monzo now.

Starling definitely offer savings with interest, I’m showing these options when I log into my account

@Walker1178 It's more that their saving spaces are part of your current account and they offer no interest on them.
