Are you able to check which model the school uses? The school I work at recommend the model so all students use the same one.

Our school bought in bulk and sold at a reduced price.

There’s a very similar one with a solar panel at the top. Either would do.

Not sure which one but some of them allow you to convert decimals into fractions. Absolute lifesaver for algebra

Get on thats JCQ compliant so they can use it in exams, otherwise they’ll need a new one in a couple of years.

Casio FX-83 has been standard for years and you can buy them everywhere (Smiths, supermarkets etc). All the functions you need and none of the stuff that isn't allowed for exams. Do they specify on the kit list?

PenroseTriangle · 31/08/2025 13:26

Actually Casio have just changed all of their calculators so the one above is the latest. They’ve cut down the number of functions on the buttons and put them in a menu.

IME the school always lets the parents know which they prefer. Check on the school website. My DCs’ school used to put links for things like that.
