Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot, after a lie in. We've had quite a busy week & no-one else is up yet. The kittens have had breakfast, girl kitten's tried pestering for treats and wasn't given any, and they've now gone back to bed 🤣.

We haven't got anything planned for today. It's back to school for me tomorrow <boo!> so it'll be quite a slow, moochy, kind of day I think. I'll wash up shortly and catch up with the washing that's been neglected a bit this week.

I'll probably either paint my way through the day, or sit with my book for a few hours, I think. Maybe upload a couple of bits to Vinted too.

Dd2 needs to check she's done all the homework that was set - I think there's Spanish to be finished off. And dd1 needs to make several phone calls this week, so I'll sit with her and make a list of who they're to and info they might ask for, so she's prepared.

I have no idea what's for tea yet - maybe sausages 🤔. Whatever we have will be followed by my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower, and an early night ready for tomorrow's alarm 💤.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning Lucysmam and others. Enjoy your slow day.
I've had two coffees and a cuppa with a slice of toast. The kitchen has been tidied and I've dried clothes in the tumble dryer and got some hanging out too. I've been to the hole in the wall for money for the painter who's coming to collect later today. The fridge and cupboards are full and I have a steak and sausage casserole in the slow cooker. My grandsons are arriving later for two days while their mum and dad are on a four day holiday. Apparently they are very excited. I'll drop them off at school in the morning and I'll recover from tonight's shenanigans, no doubt. Leftover curry for dinner tonight for me. Enjoy your day

mondaytosunday · 31/08/2025 10:02

Good morning! Ugh back to school for you - excited or dreading it?
I’ve fed the fur balls and let the dog out back. Back in bed. Need to colour my hair this morning as greys are definitely prominent!
Only exciting thing happening today is a Waitrose delivery - I normally go with Tesco but there are a couple things only Waitrose sells so treated us to that.
Other than the usual tidying (my DD cooked last night and is allergic to washing up) I have a crochet cardi I want to finish, perhaps start a new one.
Dinner - if my DD makes her fabulous focaccia we will have pasta and meatballs 🤞

PermanentTemporary · 31/08/2025 10:04

Good morning all. A very busy week but a gentle day yesterday. I’m waiting for the damson puree to cool so that I can finish making damson fool - never made it before but I used to love it. We’re due to have lunch at my partners mum’s so hope it will be ready to take over. This evening we’re going to a local pub quiz with some friends and ds.

NoKnickerElastic · 31/08/2025 10:07

Good morning! I'm also having my first ☕ of the day and just put on Sunday Brunch for any recipe inspiration for the next week. I'm also back to work in the morning and looking forward to getting back into a routine. My day will be mainly washing and tidying after a busy weekend and gathering bits for DS's return to uni. I really struggle to motivate myself but I intend to go out for a decent country walk at some point too.

DilemmaDelilah · 31/08/2025 10:11

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I'm still sick this morning, but I managed to get up to have breakfast with Houdini and DD2. They left about 15 minutes ago and I have just gone back to bed with a hot water bottle. I am cold!

Mr Dilemma is still being saintly. He hosted yesterday's celebratory lunch beautifully and it went down really well. He also did all the clearing up and washing up afterwards. I had Houdini to myself for about 45 minutes yesterday afternoon, while Mr Dilemma took DD2 into town to meet her friends, but when he came back I went straight to bed and he looked after Houdini by himself, including tea and putting to bed.

He has already started the first load of laundry for today, and I expect he will do another couple as well, as there are all the towels and bedsheets to do.

My plans are to stay in my warm bed - that's about it. I have a new book to read but I expect I will sleep a lot of the time. Lunch with be a leftover jacket potato from yesterday's lunch as I managed that quite well. Supper may well be the same. Mr Dilemma will fend for himself. There is some cold meat left from yesterday, although not much of the 5 packs of salami as Houdini likes that a LOT! He has quite sophisticated tastes for a 3 year old! DD2 has taken the remaining half of her cake home with her.

I haven't managed to have a bath for a week as I don't think I will be able to get out of the bath afterwards, and my showers have been very basic sit down affairs, so I could really do with one of your self-care scrubby Sundays I think. Another couple of days and I should be well enough, hopefully.

OneFootAfterTheOther · 31/08/2025 10:11

Good morning. I’ve taken the dog for a walk, suggested to DS2 that swearing at his computer is going lose him computer privileges. I’ve now sat down and had a cup of coffee and tidied up some chocolate cake.

Then i will go through the list of stuff DS1 needs for Uni.

lucysmam · 31/08/2025 10:25

@mondaytosunday slightly dreading it tbh. I heard on the grapevine that an expected change hasn't happened so am expecting to be moved away from where they've placed me this year. I really hope not, but can see it coming 😥.

Aw @DilemmaDelilah I'm sorry you're still unwell, how rubbish. Fingers crossed you're on the mend soon!

@OneFootAfterTheOther is it DS's first year? I need to somehow get move in day off to move dd1 to London.

OneFootAfterTheOther · 31/08/2025 10:31

@lucysmam yup first year, he is trying to pretend it is not happening so we sort a couple of things a day so it’s not all at once.

Today (he doesn’t know it yet) but he is going to Tesco's to get plates and pans.

Purplecatshopaholic · 31/08/2025 10:31

Morning all. Had my toast, and doggies out. Faffing around just now, getting ready to go to lunch with my siblings. We rarely see each other without our families so it will be lovely to catch up just us. Might do a few shops after, depending on trains (Sunday service is a joke but I don’t want to have to drive into Edinburgh city centre). There’s football on so my OH is going to be glued to that, lol.

Zippedydodah · 31/08/2025 10:38

Good morning @lucysmam &Co, it’s just starting to rain here, it was a beautiful sunny morning when we walked the dogs.
I’ve tidied the kitchen, had flatbread, Moroccan hummus and olives for breakfast and a big mug of coffee and done an hour of drawing.
i’ve sort of ground to a halt now.
Dinner’s prepared (chilli chicken, new potatoes, tabbouleh and salad with homemade plum crumble to follow), I don’t actually have to do anything for the rest of the day except a dog walk later and do a bit of ironing.
A quiet day here 😊

Crunchymum · 31/08/2025 10:45

Happy Sunday all.

No real plans today, just chores (including ironing the uniform x3 which I've avoided for weeks 😥 ) and chilling. I'm working tomorrow, albeit I WFH but kids aren't back until midweek.

DC1 is off to meet his friend in a bit to visit the local nature reserve, they'll be back here later for a few hours and I'll do some dinner.

DP is out clearing a job but once he's home he is taking younger 2 on a bike ride and then they are popping into in-laws where they'll have a bit of dinner and watch the Arsenal game. I'll alternate between chores and my book!

I'm roasting a chicken later, DC1 and his friend will have it with mash and corn on the cob and I'll see what I fancy when its ready. Sometimes I just like a chicken sandwich (nice bread, Lurpack and warm chicken - yummy!)

Probably a film later if we can agree.

gingercat02 · 31/08/2025 10:56

Hello @lucysmam haven't caught up for ages. I had to advance search for you 🤣 Hope you're good.
We have had a busy few weeks and a lovely Sumner.
It's our 23 wedding anniversary today, we had a lovely meal out last night and are now eating chocolate for breakfast 😋
F1 this afternoon and a bottle of fizz for later. Nice chilled day.
DS is back to 6th form on Wednesday so everyone back to reality then

Thislittlekitten · 31/08/2025 11:02

Morning @lucysmam and the Sunday gang.

Missed you yesterday. We had an early start to an event with DS and friends. Was great fun.

Today I’ve been up early sorting DS for rugby. Had the dog out on a walk. All pets fed though our youngest cat is shouting demanding more!

Big day of football here. I’m very nervous for my team.
I need to iron uniforms and work clothes. And catch up with washing as we had an issue with our washing machine mid week. Tea easy burgers.
I really want to read more of my book. I’m enjoying it but struggling to just pick it up.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone.

frozendaisy · 31/08/2025 11:05

Good easy Sunday morning all,

H has caught eldest’s cold he had on holiday and he’s back at work tomorrow so not sure how that will pan out I will be super nice to him.

Almost cleared holiday laundry, I think.

5 teens to feed and water today but not for a could of hours.

School return this week here but not until later in the week. Will do a check tomorrow and take teens out for any outstanding if need be (think we are ok but you never know).

So will get house back to work ode rather than holiday mode I think, or some of it. I might be nice and bake a tray bake for teens, vanilla sponge and custard?

Enjoy last weekend of what has been, and continues to be a glorious summer.

BunnyLover7 · 31/08/2025 11:15

Good morning @lucysmam & the Sunday gang. Woke a bit later this morning. I did some new physio exercises yesterday & expected to be aching a lot but it’s not too bad. Made a cuppa for me & DH to have in bed. I had a sudden burst of energy & did the dishwasher, kitchen surfaces & washing up some of which had been there quite a while. Also put on a load of washing which can go out later if it stays fine. Can’t make its’ mind up here. It’s DH’s birthday but he’s not fussed about doing anything. Will pop across to my parents’ to collect a card plus one from another family member. DH has requested Pieminister pies & chips for tea. I got the steak & stilton ones. DD16 has gone out for a walk. I don’t think she’s even remembered it’s DH’s special day. We watched “ Sister Act” last night & really enjoyed it - forgotten how funny & heartwarming it is. Think we might put the sequel on tonight which I don’t think I’ve seen before. Possibly not as good. Will also watch “Parenthood” which has been great.

Susiesue61 · 31/08/2025 11:15

Off to the airport in an hour for a few days away with DD 😊 She’s off travelling to Aus in 3 weeks and I’m incredibly worried about it!! So hoping for a nice relax by the pool but I feel she might be getting a bit nervous too

Belladog1 · 31/08/2025 11:34

Morning everyone 😊

I have been having a lazy day today. I had a week off work and Monday to Friday was full on. Yesterday I cleaned the house and did the washing, so today I'm chilling.

I've fed the dogs, had some toast and had two cuppas and a glass of orange and mango juice. I hand washed three bras and they are swinging on the line outside. Just washed up as I didn't bother last night.

The rest of the day will be Netflix and feet up. Just having a chicken salad tonight with two slices of garlic bread, so no cooking involved.

Have a great day everyone

PearlsPearl · 31/08/2025 11:37

Good morning @lucysmam and the Sunday gang. Best of luck with back to school, I do hope you don't get moved, it's so unsettling when that happens.

Up early before DW for once; very rare! Crept downstairs and had a cuppa while mumsnetting. I'm much happier now I'm sleeping better thanks to mounjaro- I'm sleeping less but much better quality, so feel more rested overall despite waking up earlier!

We went for a long dog walk which was great and now just scoffing breakfast (all bran with raspberries) before showers and out for lunch with DWs grandma, our usual Sunday.

Got a bloody ton of laundry to do today so the machines will be on all day. Spotting rain on and off so no drying outside.

Dinner is taco boats.

Peridot1 · 31/08/2025 11:40

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Some of you have been very productive already.

We are a quiet and tired household after a long and busy day at a village bbq yesterday. It was a great day despite the rain. Long and tiring though. Especially the clear up and taking down the sodden gazebos in the rain. Retreated to the pub afterwards with half the village and had dinner there.

So no major plans today here. I need to go for my walk but it looks like rain. I might pick tomatoes and attempt to make some tomato sauce to freeze. Then I’m just planning on reading and making a bit of a list of things I need to get done next week. Roast beef for dinner with a nice bottle of red wine. Then an early night. Might do a scrubby shower myself.

JingsMahBucket · 31/08/2025 13:25

Afternoon, Sunday gang. It’s been a slow morning here. After I eventually got out of bed to have breakfast I then set to work clearing the fridge. I portioned up salmon steaks and leftover sliced ham, both into the freezer.

I’ve seasoned tonight’s dinner — jerk chicken — and it’s sitting in the fridge marinating for later this evening.

One round of the dishwasher is done but I haven’t unloaded it yet. I’m currently snuggled back under the duvet in bed procrastinating taking a scrubby shower and washing my hair. I think I just want to be warm right now! After my shower I’ll start the massive loads of laundry that need to be done and clean the kitchen surfaces. Have a good day everyone!

ILoveSleeping · 31/08/2025 13:27

Hi!
We are currently waiting for the circus to start, with 3 year old DD. She’s very excited!
Off for a carvery afterwards which I am very excited about, 6 months pregnant and have been craving roast potatoes for days now!!
Then it will be home, a film on the sofa, bath and bed for DD and showers and an early night for me & DP!
