I got a whopping £250 voucher for my birthday! 🎂

What would you buy?? They've stopped selling REN so I'm a bit overwhelmed by choice!

Nice handbag? Perfume? Clothes?

Honestly, and especially if you actively have to look for things to buy with it - I’d sell it. My parents love giving me large John Lewis vouchers as gifts, but I find John Lewis really poor value for money nowadays as can virtually always either find the identical products and items elsewhere much more cheaply, or have the freedom to buy other things I want that JS doesn’t sell, so I sell on Cardyard and get something over 90% of the voucher value in cash.

Buy a piece of jewellery or splash out on Guerlain

madaboutpurple · 30/08/2025 14:09

A nice handbag and hopefully perfume as well

HangingOver · 30/08/2025 14:59

Oooh perfume is a great shout, I never have nice perfumes 😁

I would say go in and smell a lot and then buy online for half the price.
Could you save the vouchers for Christmas food?

I mean, bank the cash for necessities but spend the cash for yourself

HangingOver · 30/08/2025 16:40

Definitely not going to sell it. I know what I'm like, I'll pretend I'm going to spend it on treat and it'll just go into the general groceries pot and I won't get myself anything.

How many grey jumpers can one person reasonably need? It's rained all day here and feeling autumnal 🍂

Or maybe a fancy air fryer

I bought an Apple Watch when I had a similar amount in vouchers for my birthday. Wear it every day!

Could get a wax jacket for walking my dog over the winter

Bloody hell, there's wax jackets for dogs!

Beauty advent calendar from either shop

reluctantbrit · 30/08/2025 18:26

Anything you would normally don't spend money on.

Nice bedding, clothes, perfume, kitchen bits if you want something non-practical or something you don't justify the costs.

MrsMoastyToasty · 30/08/2025 18:28

I would buy bras. However I am large of nork and cannot buy from supermarkets.

Oh, please get him one for the amusement of his Squad!!

Ellmau · 30/08/2025 18:50

Ooh yes, get yourself a matching set!!!!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/08/2025 19:02

New coat or/and boots

Air fryer is a really good idea

Posh bits from Waitrose for either a nice night in or a picnic (if the weather improves)

New undies

Lovely bedding and/or towels

Kitchen stuff - new pans or a Denby dinner set

Dermalogica stuff - it’s lovely but so expensive

Actually to be brutally honest he may already have one 🤣 But it's not a fancy JL one and it's partially eaten

We may also have matching Dry robes 😭

I had a load of John Lewis vouchers recently and got myself an Apple Watch and some Robert Welch Radford cutlery (boring I know but love my new cutlery, previous set was 30+ years old from Safeway vouchers 🤣)

Sophue · 30/08/2025 19:36

I would love a pair of Rayban sunglasses.

Ellmau · 30/08/2025 19:39

Another idea is something for the wedding - maybe nice underwear?

Use it in Waitrose instead? Loads of fabulous food!
