What’s your life like, early 40s?

I feel like I need to mix things up a little, or get more organised, I’m not sure just feel a bit like I’m drifting, busy but drifting a bit since I turned 40. Don’t know if it’s an age thing/ perimenopause or if it’s just easy to blame that! Looking for some inspiration, what’s your life like if you are in your early 40s? What do you like about it / want to improve?

My life now at 44 is better than ever before I spent my 20s and 30s working and stressed and unhappy. We decided aged 40 to give up work completely as the dc have SEN and our lives although hard now have moments of peace which we just couldn’t achieve before. We were not able to fully meet the dc needs either until we chose this option. I wouldn’t say I’m totally happy but I am much happier than I was

I can recommend aquafit classes if you’ve got any in your area and can get a space. It’s a lot of fun plus you’re exercising at the same time. Hard not to smile bobbing about in water with loud fun music blaring out.

Recently divorced, mum to teens. Retraining currently as my last job role won’t be enough once child maintence ends. Degree will be complete next year. I swim and attend classes a few times a week. Still feel untoned but I have lost weight. Vitamins collagen can’t say I’ve noticed much difference, also magnesium and vitamin d. I have a new dp younger than me, we do date nights but need to up my female friend game as divorce has made me realise who my friends are so my circle is smaller. But life is busy. I’m also pushing myself to do things alone and date myself!

Adding that I take vitamins, fish oil, lions mane and the lions mane has helped my memory so much. Things I forgot years ago (35+) have come back to me. Short term too.

In my early 40s my life changed dramatically. I went from a secure job within middle management (local authority) to going to uni as a mature student. I lived on one of the toughest estates in Manchester (now demolished) and it was a huge cultural shock. I still met some great people and look back on those years with nostalgia. I eventually went into academia and worked there until retirement from employed work. Then I became self employed.

I'm 41 with a 5 year old and 2 year old. We live 100 miles from family and really struggle having any time to ourselves and even more rarely as a couple. I dropped to PT teaching after having our second and as much I absolutely love being able to spend time with them, do school drop offs and pick ups and take my eldest to clubs etc money is tight. There are jobs that need doing around the house, we haven't been abroad for years. Definitely missing the etc income and we are both so bloody tired! Our friendship has become much smaller as everyone's lives are so busy. I do miss having a better social life. Feels like I'm stuck in a rut at the moment.

Raising a family, four children two teens (one an adult now) and two primary aged. Been married 18 years. Life is exhausting but I take little pleasures in life as I realise being in my 40s how precious time is. I listen to audiobooks daily and enjoy spending time with my family. I have one good friend who I met through my youngest starting primary school. The kids are good friends and myself and this mum share common interests and we just gel. I am studying via the OU part time and hope to be finished my degree as my youngest finishes primary school. Looking forward to what the future has in store. Got loads of health issues but try to pace myself as much as I can. Taking cod liver oil and vit D.

Which kind of magnesium? Citrate? I'd like to start this too...
