Handhold: a dear friend has died

I'm just in utter disbelief, she was pregnant, due soon, and she and the baby were killed in an accident. She leaves behind a 5 yo and a beloved husband. I'm just gutted. I haven't experienced the death of a friend and I just can't stop crying.

That’s heart breaking OP xx

Douchey · 29/08/2025 23:04

Im so sorry. Do you have someone there to support you? Sending hugs xx

Teajenny7 · 29/08/2025 23:04

I am sorry for your loss. Utterly sad and difficult to comprehend. Gentle hugs

Gliblet · 29/08/2025 23:05

So sorry for your loss, that would be a terrible shock for anyone no matter how many losses they'd experienced. Be gentle with yourself - do you have people around you you can talk to/get support from?

tartyflette · 29/08/2025 23:05

What a dreadful thing to happen, truly horrific. I'm so sorry for your loss OP.

soverysadtonight · 29/08/2025 23:11

Thank you everyone, I've had a long cry with DH but he's had a long day and I've sent him to bed. I'm just sat here and can't stop crying and looking at pictures of us together. I just can't make sense of it.

How awful, have a handhold and a hug.

Onelifeonly · 29/08/2025 23:18

I am so sorry. The sudden death of a young person is truly shocking. Allow yourself time to grieve and adjust to this.

Enko · 29/08/2025 23:21

Keep crying its ok. Allow your grief. This is a terrible thing to happen.

ImAPreMadonna · 29/08/2025 23:23

How utterly heartbreaking. I’m so sorry for your loss, and for that of her family. I can’t even comprehend what a shock it must be.

Take good care of yourself OP. Do you have any mutual friends you could call this evening?

soverysadtonight · 29/08/2025 23:27

Thank you again, we were friends from uni and kept in touch all these years. Most of our circle had lost touch but I've spoken with one person who had maintained some contact with her. It just doesn't seem possible.

I’m so sorry @soverysadtonight

please do tell us about your friend, if it helps, but if too painful now then hold off until your ready. xxx

Rattatoille · 29/08/2025 23:58

@soverysadtonight

Thinking of you, no advice except a handhold. I know you will always remember your friend, and keep in touch with her poor husband and child, that will be a good way to remember her. Flowers

spiderlight · 30/08/2025 00:02

I'm so very sorry - that's just awful. Sending a handhold.

soverysadtonight · 01/09/2025 12:51

Thank you everyone, I’ve spent the weekend crying, DH has been a star and taken the DC out so I can weep and mourn. The initial shock has subsided but I still can’t believe she and the baby are gone.
