What curtains/cushions would go with this?

I'm seriously challenged in the "not being able to visualise" side of life.

We have this Ektorp sofa in green/grey and this pale green colour on the walls. It looks lovely. We're going to have black curtain rods and black picture frames for the walls but other than that we wanted more of a calm type room after years of the living room basically being a playroom.

But I don't know how to do it. My brain just goes "green" and then it would be a big green mess. I can't visualise at all - so have to buy the things to see what they look like.

Any suggestions for curtains or cushions or a rug?.

Or colours?

Ha even in that screenshot the paint looks much darker than it is on the wall. It's a very pale calm colour on the walls!

Oooh I love the colours on that Kingfisher rug. ANd I like the cream cushion with the texture.

I think I've reached a blank as either I need to go for curtains/cushion/rug with a colour and get the others to blend rather than all different directions. I was thinking a cream/ivory curtains or some withe a more ditsy leaf print. But the flower curtains I liked which i thought were "modern floral" were deemed grannyish by my kids. So I'm a bit stuck!

I've had a look at Dunelm Mill and Next Home as we have those near us but am a bit overwhelmed. We need a new lightshade too or it will be an ikea paper one forever!

I think I thought we'd done the hard bit!

To keep the calm atmosphere, I'd add some pale duck egg blue and some light warm butter yellow into that green grey colour scheme. Possibly also one or two patches of bright turquoise. You could bring the colour in with soft furnishings like cushions, throws, rugs, and also things like a painted bookcase, side table or chair, prints for the walls etc. The choice of curtains will be important as they are a large area of colour.

For a more vibrant look, you could choose, deep rose and fuchsia accessories.

Maybe choose the rug first as that’s a bigger expense then coordinate the cushions.
Terry’s Textiles and Universal Textiles both good online shops to buy bargain cushions and covers.
