How far do you agree with this about the EU?

White English people are the dominant social group in not only England but the whole of the UK because England makes up the majority of the British population, outnumbering the Scottish, Welsh and northern Irish; and the majority of people are white in the UK. Similarly, people of English/British descent have long been the dominant social group in the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. And the UK was once the most powerful country in the world and even since World War II as the United States has become the most powerful country in the world, a lot of English people have sought to ride off of the USA’s glory, by constantly emphasising the “special relationship” between the two countries and trying to use the relationship with the superpower America to boost their national prestige.

But, the European Union is/was different.

The English/British were not the dominant social group in the European Union as Germany had a larger population than the UK and a large economy and if any country dominated the European Union it was Germany not Britain, and certainly not England alone.

Maybe white English people resented the fact that for the first time they weren’t the dominant group. Maybe white English people when in the European Union felt how Scottish and Welsh and Northern Irish people feel in the UK, hence why a lot of Brexit nationalists often portrayed the EU as the “Fourth Reich” or talked about German malevolence and German dominance similar to how Scottish and Welsh nationalists often derisively call the UK Parliament the “English Parliament” or say that they are controlled by England.

English people knew that they could not claim Germany’s success and power as their own like they may be able to latch on to America’s power as Germany is thoroughly foreign unlike America and doesn’t speak the same language.

you just need to change the word "people" to "men" and then it will be MN compliant truth

This sounds like a crap idea for an A level essay. Why don't you run your prompts through chat GPT and see what they say? It might get a C.

Not at all.

You're entitled to your opinion but no, don't agree one little bit.

I read that and assumed that the writer had little understanding of politics or history pre 20th century, and a lacked a global perspective entirely. So didn’t agree in the slightest.

I also had similar thoughts.

I think there are some people ( most of whom were born in the generations who never experienced war or Empire) who hark back to the days of Empire and 'winning 2 world wars' against Germany but conversely don't realise that the consequences of Empire was that everyone born into the British Empire was British, with a British passport and that ' they' didn't win anything- allied forces including a more powerful US, Europeans and Empire soldiers from around the world won the war. In other words people too stupid to know the history of their own country.

The OP sounds very ignorant.
