This year has been one lot of devastating news after another.
I know everybody is different and no one can tell me things will be okay but I was wondering if anyone has experience of someone in their life coming through the situation my best friend is in at the moment.
Last week, after a couple of days of having a bad headache, she went to a&e when her vision changed. She was told she had an aneurysm which resulted in a bleed. They described it as small 2.5mm. She was taken straight down for surgery the following morning. She went into surgery conscious and aware of her situation. They initially tried to operate by going through her groin but hit complications so had to drill into her skull and insert a drain. The surgery was on Friday morning. Over the next few days, they made 4 attempts to wake her but she was unresponsive. Overnight on Saturday, she had another bleed so they fitted another drain at her bedside in ITU. They decided at this point to put her into a deeper coma. On Monday morning, one of her pupils reacted to light but was inconsistent. She has swelling to the brain which they’re treating with the highest dose of medication that they can. She is still in the deep coma. I know in my heart this is really really bad, but I’m wondering whether anyone knows anyone who has come through this?
She has 3 children and it was her eldest son’s birthday yesterday. It’s just causing devastation. We all need her to be okay and I’m trying hard to keep the faith. It’s still not even a week since her surgery so maybe she needs more time.
Has anyone got any stories of hope for us?
