Child bump on head (face) at pick up time

DD6 came out of school today and I noticed a large bruise with a red line running through it (skin not quite broken) on her chin. She says it’s very sore (it looks it). She said it happened during PE and she was told to sit out on a bench (was crying) but nothing else was done. No cold compress, no note in the bag, no word from teacher at end of school.

is this normal for an injury in this area? I’m not 100% clear from talking to my child how this happened… If it’s an injury to the head/face is it not commonplace for the school to communicate what happened and provide some kind of first aid? Are there any rules in place about this or is it just a school by school policy?

thanks !

Other, better informed people, will be along soon, I am sure, but in my view this should have been recorded in some form of H&S incident book and a conversation held with you on what happened, the care that was given, and suggestions for next steps for the child's care.

Concerning that you weren’t notified at pick up
