To wonder where I have gone wrong with life?

please be kind, I’m struggling.
Up till 3 years ago, I had been in a stable job for 4 years, decided to leave, since then I haven’t stayed in a job longer than 9 months.
I haven’t found the right one for me. I don’t know anymore what to do.
I have recently found out I’m autistic. I’m second guessing any job offer if do get whether I’m gonna last.
My CV looks awful and I’m so upset I’m rubbish at life.

Also I have only been on minimum wage jobs, I can’t see a way out.

What sort of job or career do you want? Do you have any qualifications or experience? If not what could you do alongside a bog standard casual job to improve your chances?

Deep breath. It’s hard at the moment in the employment sector so don’t take it to heart with kickbacks. Keep applying and take the job if you think it’s right, don’t worry about not liking it, that’s what probation is for, if it’s not right then you can leave and start again. With regards to gap in the cv, it doesn’t matter, you can say you was taking a break, you don’t have to put each trial job down.

You haven't gone wrong, you've just not decided what you'd goal is yet.

chatgptsbestmate · 26/08/2025 10:53

Why have you left jobs? What's been your reasoning?

Honestly there are a lot of dreadful jobs out there. I’m well established in a career which I hate and every job I take has some awful flaw - either the managers expect 60 hour weeks with no extra pay and treat people badly, or they are nice but corrupt/crooked, or something else.

It isn’t a good look to have a choppy cv - but you can’t change that now. Are you thinking about chucking in this job too? I think you should try and stick it out, even if it’s awful, so you have done a year.
