Dulux heritage - has anyone used this?

So far I'm being won over by the fact the tester posts are so much creamer than the dulux roll on ones and finding it so hard to tell on the walls as they look different to what it looks like on the picture!!

I’ve got the emulsion on my walls. The colours are lovely and so far it’s held up really well to general living in (3 years old)

Yes and it’s amazing. Decorators have all said it’s one of their favourites

Yes! We moved into an older house earlier this year with characterful imperfect walls and love the stuff.
After picking it for the first room we did for the colour, we’ve used it in every room. We’ve even had standard dulux colours like timeless mixed as the heritage version from one of the trade centres as the quality is so much better

Oooh this is all good.

We have a decorator centre near us and just discovered you can choose the colour independently of the paint too!

What colours have people used? I'm looking at the Pearl Colour (sort of pale green).

I was going to do diamond matt trade for the kitchen/hallway and heritage for the living room/bedroom but now I'm contemplating All The Choices.

Also I'm not great at colour - kitchen is currently willow tree which looks similar to Pearl in some lights and now contemplating just doing it all one colour... Or maybe something different in the hallway.

This is so not my skill set!

I also really like the look of Dulux Heritage paints (but am waiting to complete on a house so haven't put them on a wall as yet!). Subject to seeing how the samples look in the house, I think we will use Potters Pink and Green Oxide in a couple of rooms. Still figuring out neutrals - I like the look of Linen White or Pale Nutmeg.

Pearl Colour is an interesting one, as I think I read somewhere that the colour was designed for both Dulux Heritage and Little Greene. However I bought a sample of the Little Greene version and it comes out too grey for my taste - whereas the colour book for Dulux Heritage looks much better, so perhaps I should try the DH version!

Edit to add - it's helpful to search the paint colours on Instagram too to see how they look in others' homes!

I didn't know that we are supposed to be putting our ages at the end of each post?
Is this a new thing? (55 years old)

VaddaABeetch · 25/08/2025 10:57

I have potters pink in my kitchen & a green on the HSL forget the name.

🤣. I wouldn’t mind the functional knees and lack of responsibilities of being 3 tbh.

(hopefully clear that I meant the paint job is 3 years old and is holding up well)

It’s very good paint. Excellent consistency and good coverage, good to work with, amongst the best.

We used Heritage in the lounge, Diamond Matt in the hall and neither was washable. We switched to Albany, Brewer's brand and much prefer it and I can remove marks!!

I have the sage in my home office. It's a busy room and the paint has had a lot of wear but still looks great. Fab coverage as well.

Albany, while decent, (used plenty of it on jobs in the past) does not have the depth of colour or finish of something like Dulux heritage. Sure, it might not be washable, but the actual finish is much better than Albany. This may or may not matter to you.

Linen colour with pugin red. I planned to use one of the slightly pink neutrals but in the north-facing light of the room in question it looked too grey/cold so ended up going less fashionable, more yellow and more welcoming. Get testers and paint some paper to stick on all 4 walls of the actual room then check them at different times of day. It can be eye-opening how different they look in context than on a screen or chart.

We went into Brewers and they were so very helpful. Twice with different staff and so happy to discuss what we were doing/needed.

We have dulux heritage for living room (dh pearl) and bedroom (sage green) and dulux heritage blue ribbon but in diamond trade Matt for the hallways and we will get trade diamond matt for the kitchen too. I can't remember the bathroom paint. I think it might be zinser perma white base/mould but with the dulux colour - they made it up. We're so pleased.

We've done the living room, but the others will need to be weekends.

We've got aqua guard undercoat and satinwood white for the woodwork.

I've got lovely curtains but all still very neutral/green in the living room. It could do with some colour but I'm currently loving the calm! I've got a lot of cushions to "test" tomorrow in natural light to see if I can add soemthing not green.

There will be prints with black frames, wooden units, plants.... I may be a walking cliche but they're all things I've wanted for years while the kids were growing up so this is so exciting to finally do it and fab it's currently what's around!
