Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day after getting up quite late. We got in just before 1am after the last train from Sheffield was cancelled - yesterday was a bit of a nightmare train wise. Gig was fun though & we spent quite a bit of the afternoon queue watching from our favourite pub across from the venue.

So far I've tidied round the kitchen a bit, fed the kittens, and put the washer on. I'll move to wash the few pots there are and take my tablets when boy cat gets up - he's currently purring away on my knee 😊

We have very little planned for today - I did ask dd2 if she wanted to do something, or go somewhere, since I was out with dd1 yesterday but she said no 🤷‍♀️. So, my plan for the day is to potter doing little bits, but nothing much, at the same time. I have some plant life cycle peg dolls on the go, so maybe paint those and upload some things to Vinted, or maybe I'll do another spread in the gig scrap book. Either way, it needs to be very chill - we're off to 18th birthday gig 8/12 tomorrow, in London, so up and out early.

I have no idea what's for tea yet - I mentioned getting something out of the freezer when we got in, then forgot to do it before I went to bed 🤷‍♀️. I think there's a frozen pie so maybe that with mash and veg.

After that it'll be my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower, followed by some fruit and yogurt for pudding, an hour with my book and a nice early night, ready for the 5am alarm.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam , it’s a lovely sunny morning here and there’s a muntjac barking close to our back fence, the dogs are very interested! We back onto woodland that’s completely unspoiled because of the very steep slopes and often hear them and foxes.
So far this morning the dogs have been walked, a load of washing is on the line, chicken is marinating for chicken shawarma, I’ve done an hour’s tidying in the kitchen and had a shower. That’s it!
DH has gone to the village and all’s peaceful 🙏

Gowlett · 24/08/2025 10:59

what was the gig?

Up at 6am, planning to un-fuck the house today. Wanted to get started before DH & DS got up. Back to school clean-up!

Got a birthday party this afternoon, so that will be nice afterwards.

lucysmam · 24/08/2025 11:06

@Gowlett really good! Heard the song I'd been most looking forward to live so chuffed about that (I think it's a setlist staple tbh, but I'm happy either way!).

My house could do with being un-fucked - it's a mess of boxes & stuff half packed. Not happening today though!

Good morning Sunday lot.

Just having my first cuppa of the morning, dp made the kids and himself bagels and scrambled eggs but I’m not feeling anything yet. I was up at midnight eating the gammon pasta left overs, my sleep is terrible lately. Dd starts secondary school a week tomorrow and I seem to be doing all my worrying when the house is quiet and everyone else is fast on.

Dp is back sorting the new fish tank. I’m leaving him to it, until the fun bits like going to select the new fish 😁 didn’t realise how much went into a marine tank! The kids are having an hour with YouTube, will get the paints out soon and we can have some time in the garden as it’s a beautiful day. We have some rocks that I’d like to them to decorate. Hopefully it doesn’t end in an argument like everything else has this past week! They are getting fed up of each other I think, can tell we are coming to the end of the school holidays.

Family get together this evening, very much looking forward to it, Prosecco has been chilling since Friday!

Have lovely Sundays all.

BunnyLover7 · 24/08/2025 11:09

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. Sorry about your train @lucysmam but glad you enjoyed the gig. Have fun tomorrow too! Awake a bit later than usual & made a cuppa for us both which we had in bed. Not long been downstairs as have been doomscrolling. DD16 is out for a walk. DH making his daily porridge before he cleans the rabbit hutches. I will do the dishwasher & wipe the surfaces. Might peel spuds & a carrot ready for tea as I’m going into work for a couple of hours this afternoon. It will either be very quiet as everyone’s on the beach or really busy if locals are avoiding said busy beach! If I haven’t done the veg I’ll do it when I get home & then sit in the garden with my book. Tea is sausages, roasties, broccoli & carrot with sausage gravy. We watched “ Yesterday” last night which was daft but enjoyable & might watch another film tonight. Have a great Sunday all!

swampwitch0 · 24/08/2025 11:10

Morning@lucysmam
I didn't sleep well 😕
I've showered so am feeling slightly less gross.
Today is a rest day, although we are planning on going for a walk later.
Another film night tonight, I think 🤔
Busy week next week...dd is enrolling on her L3 course.
She got her (excellent) gcse results on Thursday so it's been an emotiinal few days 😊
Have a great BH weekend everyone x

DilemmaDelilah · 24/08/2025 11:10

Good morning @lucysmam . I was getting worried about you! I knew you were going to a big last night so I did think maybe it had been a bit of a late night for you.

It's my youngest DDs birthday today (41!) so I spent a little time messaging with her this morning which was nice. I've also been reviewing my Morrison's order, which is due to arrive the day she gets here, but several hours beforehand. I'm planning on doing a stuffed marrow for our evening meal, so I will be able to do that once the food is delivered. I may prepare the marrow itself the day before though, as I get tired quickly and I'm not sure I can stand for that long.

I've also done the nappy audit - to make sure there are enough to last Houdini through the stay and, if not, then I would put some more on the order. There are plenty. I need to fish out the potties next. Mr Dilemma has taken the fuse out of the bedroom heater. Last time Houdini stayed he was fiddling with the controls and his bedroom was a furnace!

I'm going to crochet together some of the squares I have made for the blanket for Houdini's room. I probably won't ever give it to him to use though... as I have a feeling it wouldn't last very long. It will probably only get used when an adult uses the room.

Otherwise no other plans. Have a lovely day everybody!

OneLilacEagle · 24/08/2025 11:11

Morning all!
Just having coffee in the garden after a boiled egg breakfast. Feeling a bit fuzzy today - we booked our japan tickets last night and had a few drinks to celebrate. DH is feeling much ropier that me - he has no moral fibre. So not quite sure what the plan is for today. Lots of Japan chat, undoubtedly, and I'd better knuckle down to some language study. Managed to pick a kilo of brambles from the wasteland that used to be our garden so I'll enlist DS to make bramble jelly in a bit. Our extension build starts next week (thus the wasteland) so chilling out might be for the best. Dinner is pulled pork nachos using leftover bbq pork for last night. Have a good day.

Whattheduck · 24/08/2025 11:43

Having a relaxed day today as not been feeling great (labyrinthitis) felt better yesterday but think I over did it so currently on the sofa with the dog watching Hostage on Netflix
I have put a wash on so will peg it out when finished
Dh is away with work until tomorrow
Dd is at work until 5.00 then popping home before going to her boyfriends for a takeaway
Hoping to get out to take the dog for a walk / get some fresh air
Going to have a salad for tea later
Enjoy your Sunday everyone

PearlsPearl · 24/08/2025 11:44

Morning (just!) @lucysmam and all 😊

A lovely Sunday so far. It's super sunny and warm here in Scotland which is nice. DW and I walked the dogs for an hour this morning with a detour via Starbucks for iced coffee. Very hot and sweaty!

The mounjaro is making me sleep so much better. Less, but better quality. I wake up feeling rested. Another lovely 'side effect'.

DW is cooking up a storm, our first roast of the year (even though it's boiling out!) and I'm going to pick up her grandma to come and join us in 10 mins. Then we'll no doubt have a few rounds of rummikub- for a 91 year old she's still extremely sharp!

She wants to go shopping for the foodbank so we'll do that later, then pop to a garden centre for coffee and cake.

The first load of washing is on, every window in the house is open, the rooms have been febrezed and everything feels fresh and lovely.

Umbongoumbongo999 · 24/08/2025 11:50

Good morning weekend crew. I've been up early for a Sunday, as we didn't stay too late at last night's gig, and we're home by 10.30.

I've had two coffees and some toast and fruit. Read some of my book and set some laundry going and emptied the dishwasher. Cat 1 has been in for breakfast and loudly demanding attention, cat 2 hasn't come back yet. He does tend to roam in the summer and may be asleep in a hedgerow.

I'm at the gym now doing my workout (this is a 2 minute rest!) and really trying to push myself today. If we have time me and dh will have a steam and jacuzzi. We have reservations for Sunday lunch and staying overnight at a hotel which was a joint birthday gift we hadn't got round to taking. The grounds are lovely so hopefully the sun will peep through and we'll have a walk after lunch.

I'm hoping we can get i player on the hotel TV so I can watch some of reading and Leeds. We may be found in the hotel bar having a nightcap.

DS back to work today, he'll have a takeaway and enhit having the house to himself when he gets home

Happy Sunday everyone

Cocotok · 24/08/2025 12:24

Good afternoon Sunday gang. I've missed these threads for the last few weeks, we've been busy with decorating and the summer hols and time seems to have flown.

I've been productive this morning. The house is clean, washing on the line, dinner is prepped and the children are playing nicely with no arguing for a change.

No plans for this afternoon but we will probably get out for a walk to make the most of the sun before the rain comes in next week.

We have a busy week planned so this evening will be a long bath, some of my newest book and hopefully a couple of glasses of wine.

Rainbow1235 · 24/08/2025 12:44

Thislittlekitten · 24/08/2025 12:48

Afternoon @lucysmam and the Sunday gang.

Had our young nephews having a sleepover last night so early start! Got some washing on and tidying up.
Took DDog out for a big walk.

Need to sort out school and work clothes and lunches.
Quiet rest of the day planned. Not sure about tea yet?

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 24/08/2025 13:38

Good afternoon Lucysmam and others. I'm glad you enjoyed the gig but nightmare about the train.
I've been awake since the back of five. I had two coffees and a couple of slices of cranberry loaf and a cuppa. I emptied and loaded the dishwasher. Then hoovered and put out cardboard that my new lamps came in. Then did an ironing and put it all away. My ds arrived with breakfast and then he helped put up lampshades, move furniture and rolled up and threw out the rug from the living room. The new one will be delivered later this week. Dd arrived with the boys and chaos ensued. They were tired from two hours in the park and over excited to see their uncle. It culminated in dgs2 knocking over a full can of diet coke onto the living room floor. Dd had left it within his reach. I was glad when they all left! I'm about to have a late lunch then wield a duster. Spanish style tortilla with salad for dinner later. Enjoy your day all

DilemmaDelilah · 24/08/2025 14:25

@PearlsPearl I'm also on mounjaro and have found that I'm sleeping better too. I also feel sick most of the time and have to make myself eat (I NEVER thought that would happen) but it's brought my blood sugar levels down which is why I was prescribed it, and I need to lose lots of weight which it is certainly helping with, so I'm persevering.

Hedjwitch · 24/08/2025 14:40

Having a wee rest at the mo. Washing on the line, kitchen floor mopped, bedroom hoovered and dinner prepped.
DS comes home tonight after a 24 run show at the Edinburgh Fringe so its his favourite of shepherds' pie and then apple crumble. He's knackered but got a few days off before 2 more shows in London.

lucysmam · 24/08/2025 18:11

@Hedjwitch what does your ds do?

I gave up on doing anything much today, pottered around, had a shower and then a nice long nap. Slightly burned the pie for tea - oops 🙈. We've just tidied up & going to get the washing in before I sit down with pudding then head to bed 💤.

Slightly regretting my enthusiasm when booking something on all but one days this week!

Hedjwitch · 24/08/2025 18:17

swampwitch0 · 24/08/2025 18:21

We went for a walk.
I've got an apple crumble 🥧 in the oven

Andnowshesatoddler · 24/08/2025 18:26

Definitely getting an autumnal vibe from a lot of people this week and I absolutely love it!
Just been pottering around home today and went to feed the ducks.

Empress13 · 24/08/2025 19:42

Had a lovely long dog walk around a lake and Ddog had nice swim. Came home and showered him. Spent rest of day sitting in garden reading my book and DP cooked a nice stew and dumplings for dinner. Now sat eating an ice cream and Watching a film. Autumn is fast approaching ! Off to cinema tomorrow followed by drinks with friends afterwards then back to work and the old grindstone 😩

Glowstickparty · 24/08/2025 20:38

Hi all I always look out for this thread a bit late today! I have been to brunch and cinema with dp. Then home to tackle the ironing. We are going on holiday this week so lots to do! Had a lovely field dog walk today. Tuna pasta for tea quick and easy! Children returned from their dads ready for another week of the summer hols.
