Two-week cancer pathway - support while waiting

If you’ve been referred for the “two week pathway” for suspected cancer, maybe we can support each other through this wait?

Anyone else? Need to share their frustration or fear? Poll is just to see how many of us there are.

I really didn’t know quite where to put this because it’s not “cancer” but it’s not anything else. I already feel like my body is a wreck of two very different autoimmune illnesses and I just want to scream, “I can’t have cancer! I’m ALREADY ill!” I’ll find out if it’s cancerous or not on 5 September when I get the scan, scan reading, and any biopsy needed.

@TheLivelyViper I have some co-codamol, so will take that, thanks so much for the tip. Last week it was from the endometrium. The consultant said they will try to remove the cervical lesion during the hysteroscopy next week. I’ll try to relax, but it’s just all such awful timing (but I suppose there is never a good time for something like this..). Thanks for thinking of me x

That could be good, removing the lesion, getting a clear test on what it is and then a plan can be made whatever it is. It's good you have a team and a consultant who seem on it and getting things going. Hopefully having the lesion removed doesn't cause any pain. I do think it's a litte weird that for a hysteroscopy it can sometimes be done so with little meds, when other similar procedures would at least have some local. But if you've got a good pain tolerance hopefully you don't feel too much. Have a good week though, try and lean on other people as you sound like it'd often others leaning on you, which whilst shows you're very kind sometimes you should let yourself have the same x.

@noonejoan oh no, I am so sorry to hear that, it must be such a shock for you all. Sending lots of love, and hoping that there is a good hospital team around her, and a good treatment plan in place soon x

@TheLivelyViper thank you x

EggandStress · 13/09/2025 12:00

Sorry to hear that @noonejoanthat must have been a terrible shock for her and her family. I hope she’s doing okay.

Hi Ladies, I hope you’re all ok and not stressing too much. Thought I’d come back to give you an update. I received the letter today with my Biopsy results. They are benign and the consultant has discharged me with no further follow up. It is such a relief for me and my family. I’m thinking of all of you and wishing you all well x

That's great, I'm very glad.

@ReFuots How did your hysteroscopy go? I hope it wasn't too uncomfortable.

ReFuots · 26/09/2025 14:41

@TheLivelyViper Thanks for thinking of me. It was uncomfortable at times, and took a long time (as they fitted a mirena coil after the biopsy). They said at the time that visually it all looked okay, but they took a biopsy so I am waiting to hear back from that. So (thankfully) I’m only dealing with niggling uncertainty in the meantime, rather than huge-scale panic, like it was before the hysteroscopy.

That's good then, hopefully your mirena settles soon and helps in that sense. It's good they thought it all looked fine as that definitely means something considering how much they see. Hopefully the results are good, and it was all for nothing. Do give us an update when you can.

ReFuots · 26/09/2025 16:12

Thanks - will do x

EggandStress · 27/09/2025 21:11

Great news @justwannabeleftalone What a relief.

Keeping everything crossed for you @ReFuots

ReFuots · 28/09/2025 19:57

Thanks @EggandStress, me too!

Worriedandwaiting1 · 16/10/2025 15:49

@BadLuckNameChange great news for you.

How Is everyone else doing?

I know there hasn’t been any active post here for a few weeks but anyone else currently on the pathway. I went to my GP yesterday after the offered me an emergency appointment. I have a new black mole on my labia , it has bled a few days ago and is now crusty, at the same time I have a weird discolouration on my big toe including a Hutchinson sign (the dark has gone into the skin below the nail) I was referred to a nurse about this 3 weeks ago who diagnosed this as a bleed under the nail despite me not ever having any trauma to the toe (though it could be from a tight shoe I was wearing during at home workouts)

I had the mole looked at by the GP yesterday and she really didn’t like the look of my toenail. So I have been referred on the pathway for both to be investigated and the hospital called me this morning to offer me an appointment this coming Wednesday. So within a week!

I was ok at first but now really starting to worry. Both my sister and dad have had cancer, not melanoma though. Sis has brain cancer and dad AML. I’m 46 and worried 😟

(name changed for this post)

ReFuots · 16/10/2025 18:35

@Worriedandwaiting1 Sorry to hear you are on the pathway too. It’s good news you have a quick appointment - fingers crossed you get some reassuring news. I’m still waiting for biopsy results - and am assuming the wait means it is not bad news…

Worriedandwaiting1 · 16/10/2025 20:00

@ReFuots thank you, definitely surprised how quickly I got offered an appointment. Less than 24 after leaving the GP surgery. fingers crossed you 🤞

ReFuots · 28/10/2025 10:42

Just popping back to say that I got the biopsy results back a couple of days ago and I have got the all clear. Sending love to those who are also going through a suspected cancer diagnostic pathway - it is such a stressful and uncertain time. I have to say the NHS / doctors / clinic staff / GP have been brilliant, and it makes me feel so supported and fortunate that we have this level of healthcare in this country.

EggandStress · 29/10/2025 05:58

That’s really good news @ReFuotsso pleased for you. I agree about NHS.

How are you doing @Worriedandwaiting1?

Thinking of you and hoping your appointment went ok.

Worriedandwaiting1 · 29/10/2025 06:38

@ReFuots that’s great news 🙂

@EggandStress thank you for asking. The dermatologist had no concerns about the mole as it had fallen off before the appointment but he has concerns about the toenail as he saw discolouration and it has a Hutchinson sign so I have to have a biopsy done. The whole nail will have to come off and they will take a punch biopsy. Having it done on the 20th so will update when I have results
