Broadband in an empty house - easy and cheap, no contract

I’m executor for my great aunts house. Her broadband is about to expire and they (Now) wont let me continue to pay her package, they insist I take up a 12 month contract. I’m not going to do that as the house will be going up for sale this year. I need to keep the CCtV going for the insurance, so can anyone recommend an easy to use broadband?

You could try another provider but when you sell the house (which the way things go could take up to a year especially if you have to get probate first) won't you get the rest of the contact refunded...I think this may be the only situation this could happen. Have you spoken to the bereavement team. They might be more sympathetic.
We are just starting this with my FIL estate. The estate will pay the bill.

No, there was no sympathy. I explained that I just needed to keep the CCTV going but they weren’t interested.
The bank has shut the account so we can’t get at her money.

Go onto a broadband price comparison site and put in the postcode. It’ll bring up all the available deals in your area. Choose the mobile broadband options and the likes of 3, EE and others will give you month by month options. It uses a SIM card so you’ll have to put it somewhere there’s a decent mobile signal, but that’s the only option if you don’t want a long contact.
I used one until I got broadband installed in my current house as I WFH and couldn’t be without a connection. DC complained it wasn’t good for gaming but it managed Teams calls ok. Should work for CCTV.

I have same problem, when my partner passed last year Now were very good, they said don't worry about cancellation fee they would waive it when probate was granted and if I needed to cancel at any time within the contract. However when I called again recently, as my contract runs out 8th of this month and probate has still not been settled, I must have got the same discompassionate person as you! I said all I need it for is the ring doorbell/security, but no, I had to sign up to a minimum 12 Month contract with cancellation fees, and they had no record of anyone saying cancellation fees would be waived 🙄 They also refused to cancel the contract on the day it ended, said they couldn't do that and I had to call nearer the date! How ridiculous!

The company took a months money out of my account even though I didn’t subscribe. I had to get onto the bank and they have put a dispute in with the company, and I still keep getting emails from them saying I own money!

Yes I can well believe it. The conversation I was having with them I just could not get of the phone, the guy would not listen to what I wanted to the point where it was all getting a bit weird and uncomfortable.
