How to fight the flat feeling after a holiday?

I've just got back from a lovely holiday with DH, first time I've been away in a few years and had a wonderful time!

But now I've got that flat miserable feeling of returning to real life, responsibilities, work (including stressful extra work that has come up in my absence), and I'm just feeling quite down at having to get stuck into the never ending list of tasks and worries again.

So, what do people do to fight this feeling? I could start planning the next holiday, but that feels so far away, I need things to cheer me up and get me going again now!

Plan a night out or event to break the usual routine.

Book another usually haha. Or failing that, have some other things to look forward to.

Nothing works for me apart from just getting back into work and the usual routine then it goes. Back from hols Wednesday and so so flat at work on Thursday - feel more like me now.

Why will your next holiday be far away? I think it's good to always have something planned to look forward to, be it a weekend away, day trip, theatre show, whatever.

Between mine and DH's work commitments, it will be next Easter at the earliest, most likely... Which currently feels a million years away!

OP, did you have any life realisations while you were away?
While you're out of your normal environment, without your usual obligations, it's normal to have thoughts of how you could you make your life more meaningful or enjoyable.

Instead of trying to get rid of these 'flat' feelings, you could use them to motivate yourself - take up a new hobby, socialise with friends more, or simply to go on more regular date nights with DH.

Book another holiday. I usually book one when I’m on holiday!

That's a really good point - I think DH was happier and more relaxed than he's been in a while, which made me happier too as he was more affectionate, so date nights could be a good idea.
