What work nonsense have you had today?

I think my work peaked today. Although no doubt they'll exceed this in time.

We are customer facing so get a lot of crap. Occasionally we'll get someone saying something nice or complimenting the person they dealt with. If I pick up these calls/letters/emails I make a point of passing it on to the person and their manager. I know not everyone does but most people are delighted to get this feedback (also it can be used as evidence for bonuses). If it isnt passed on at that point, it just gets stored and no one will know.

I passed on an email yesterday. I got a nice email back from the staff member but their manager called my manager to say it was "out of my remit" and if the customer wanted the person to know, they would have contacted them directly. My manager has now told me Im not allowed to pass these positive compliments on! When I asked why, he just said it wasnt my job.

I'm still going to! 🤣

Both those managers are fuckwits. I'm glad you're going to carry on!

Today has been mostly fine, except for a client emailing to say "where is the document you were meant to sent?" when I'd sent it two hours earlier. They didn't apologise when they found it in their inbox.
