Disney + weirdness - any ideas how I fix it?

When using WiFi Disney + is showing the USA version and doesn’t have a show that ds is watching.
If I try it on my phone with 5g it’s back to normal.

I’m not techy at all, no one has changed anything settings. I’ve turned the wifi off and on again.

Does anyone have any idea what’s going on?

DH set up a VPN recently?

VimFuego101 · 16/08/2025 20:45

Agree, sounds like a VPN running.

Look for a VPN in settings

Any chance you're using nhs WiFi? I was using it earlier and it wouldnt work, even though the iplayer worked fine x

DisneyDragon · 16/08/2025 21:56

Where would I find a VPN in the settings?

No, not NHS, just bog standard plusnet.

So Disney US is on my phone too (have downloaded the app to check), but I do not have VPN on my phone. Have checked on DS’s phone, also no VPN.
2 other dc are barely at home and don’t use Disney.
Husband is a complete technophobe and can barely use his phone.
The WiFi router apparently doesn’t support VPN.
I wonder if it’s some sort of glitch!

I’ve been trying to find the cause of this, and now Netflix is doing it too - streaming USA Netflix on WiFi, back to uk on 5g.

I’ve checked the router - there’s nothing different about it at all.
I’ve checked my phone and my sons’ phones - no VPN.
H barely uses his phone and doesn’t do anything techy, doesn’t even watch Netflix or Disney.

Does anyone have any suggestions of things I look into to get to the bottom of this?

Have you tried turning the router off and on again? If so, have you tried forgetting the network ID and then re entering the password?

I’ve turned it off and on again a few times. Haven’t tried forgetting the network, so will do that next, thank you

Sounds like someone activated a vpn to bypass porn…

DisneyDragon · 21/08/2025 21:21

I know, but there’s no sign of anything anywhere.
The router doesn’t support VPN (apparently), none of our devices have VPN. I just don’t understand it.
