Tell me what I can make with smoked tofu

I like tofu but generally just use it in stir fries. I have a block of smoked tofu and I don't feel like stir fry.
Any ideas for other things I can do with it are welcome

It's really nice raw, chopped into a mushroom salad with sesame dressing. I eat it as a snack.

Depends on what you’re after. We’re obsessed with the Aldi smoked tofu which is very very firm and the other day I fancied a snack rather than a meal so I cubed it, tossed it in cornflour and seasoning, fried till crispy then ate it with mango chutney.

There is a great Anna Jones recipe that uses it in ‘meat’ balls. Think it s on the Gaurdian website

Morrisons have just introduced their own brand smoked tofu. As well as use it in stir frys, I just cube it and eat it raw. Lovely. Very firm. Great source of protein.

I cut mine into fat fingers, drizzle with sesame oil and bake it so it’s crispy. I eat it like that with chilli dip or sit it on top of a Thai curry made with different veg.

I use it in a sort of goulash that i make with lots of mushrooms and some root veg cooked in a paprika spiced tomato sauce. I serve it with pasta.

There’s a Jamie Oliver recipe for Veggie Burgers. The smoked tofu will be a nice change in that.

SkankingWombat · 16/08/2025 21:16

We use it in fajitas in place of chicken. I fry it first, then remove it from the pan, make veggies fajitas (peppers, onions, tinned mixed beans), then add the tofu back to the pan before serving.

WildGeece · 16/08/2025 21:16

I like to fry it in flakey slices/pieces, so it turns out a bit like flakey smoked fish. Eat with mash, green veg & squeeze of lemon.

QuaverQuanta · 16/08/2025 21:30

I use smoked for scrambled tofu

Jacarana · 16/08/2025 22:15

Yum, some more great ideas, thanks

This is one of my favourite recipes. I use smoked paprika instead of gochugaru though, due to dietary issues and it’s still delicious.

I used to slice and fry it and make it into TLT sandwiches (makes a nice bacon substitute).

That is an excellent idea.
