decades ago got in touch, wanting to meet up or even come and stay?
I have an old school friend I hadn't seen in decades becuase he's been travelling and living broad. Not that I'd have seen him anyway, I expect, we were never close.
Ws now 50+, he's back and staying at his mums house, not working and taking the opportunity to travel on this side of the world. In the last 6 months has been to at least 15 different countries in Europe and Asia.
In every one, he seems to have looked up someone he met previously on his travels, and is either being shown round by them or often staying with them.
He very gregarious and will be "friends" with everyone within minutes of walking into a bar, but I'm amazed how many of them are prepared to host him in their own country.
For me he's one of those people who's fun in small doses but exhausting and tbh his "humour" can often be offensive. I don't know why he doesn't get thumped more often!
Anyway, he's not shy and seems to be staying in some amazing places and doing amazing things all on the back of people he met once years ago.
