Moving to the Edinburgh area vs Lake District.

Which would you prefer?

It’s just me and my dog. No children to consider. I’m relatively familiar with both areas and considering Keswick/Ambleside/Cockermouth(Possibly Penrith though I know that’s outside of the LD) or Edinburgh/Linlithgow/North Berwick/Dunbar but open to other areas.

I’m hoping to find a 2 bedroom flat or home. I don’t want too rural as would like a reasonable range of shops near by.

I’d appreciate any experiences/advice.

TIA

Well, I’m not in the UK but my understanding is that the Lake District is called so because it rains an awful lot. Annual rainfall 1470mm.

However, Edinburgh, on the east coast has an annual rainfall of 685mm.

I reckon you would need to be a certain type of person to live in that amount of rain. It would be ok if it mostly fell within a few months but this would be all year. However, I am sure someone will be along to tell me I know nothing.

Good point about the rain. I am from an area that also gets a lot of rain but whether I want that to continue is a point worth considering.
