I wish we could get a good downpour

There is a gorse fire burning, not close to me or threatening to damage any houses, but near enough that I keep coughing when the wind is in my direction. It's been burning for two days now. What we need is heavy rain that lasts at least a couple of hours. We just had a heavy shower, but I don't think that's going to be enough.

It's so annoying, I can't hang out washing, I can't open my window at night, apparently some roads have been having visibility problems.

We do need rain. A huge downpour isn’t ideal as we’ve had such a dry summer the ground is rock hard, it would just result in flooding. A couple of hours of light rain overnight for a few days would be perfect!
I imagine it’ll change soon though, Autumn is only round the corner

We had a very unexpected thunderstorm yesterday in SW London which was heaven. Could definitely do with another.
