Leasehold property - who is responsible for the windows?

Looking at leasehold flats

Is it the responsibility of the flat owner to pay for upkeep and replacement of windows or does this come under the building which is the responsibility of the property owner?

Also, are there pitfall with share of freehold properties wrt costs?

If someone of limited means, would a flat in a grade II listed building be a no no?

Depends on what it says in the lease- it could be either! The upkeep of a grade 2 flat is going to be higher than unlisted. A person of limited means would have to save for unexpected service charges. Costs are not in your control. That is the trouble with leasehold.

My lease states its my responsibility to upkeep windows and windows frames. I believe thats normal.

Thank you
From knowing my own home with a hard wood sash appearance window in the downstairs loo (approx 1.2 m x 1m) costing about 1k, the cost of replacing a full bay of windows in a Grade II listed building would be eye-watering.
