Can anyone help with some advice for where is best to park next Friday night for the rugby at the Stadium of Light? I don't mind paying but I don't know the area at all so need somewhere I'll definitely get a space! I'm driving up from Leeds after work so will be hitting Sunderland around 7 i think so can't be too far away!

I am a season ticket holder there.

some good options are the new riverside mumtistorey car park- quick walk across the bridge, or in the university car park just opposite.

or to be on the other side of the bridge, you can book YourParkingspace at the big Tesco- at roker retail park. worth seeing if they have spaces.

Ooh thanks @sletthats really helpful. How full does the multi storey get? Its my nightmare that I'll get there and it'll be full and then i dont know where else to go!

ive Never had a problem getting in there before a match but usually arrive at least an hour before. The first three floors are for EVs and disabled spaces so you have to keep going up but from around floor 4 I have always found a space. It’s hard to predict as not sure how busy it will be for the rugby, I don’t think the ground is due to be as full as it is on a match day but obviously there will be more people travelling from outside the area.

Thanks @slet.I don't suppose you know anything about the park and ride system do you and whether it would be a good option? Im thinking really of how long it will take to get from there to the stadium. Thanks!

The park and ride set up is really good and the bonus is that it’s just far enough out of the city that you escape the bottle necks around the stadium at the end of games - it’s probably two miles from the stadium so about ten mins on the bus
