My dd (14)had blood tests a month ago. That night they called us into the hospital because she was really anemic with an unknown cause.

i cant remember alm the values but they said her heamaglobin was 8, her iron was 2, mcv(?) 62 and others

They checked her vital
signs and sent us home saying she would have am urgent refferal to peadiatrics which since they had called us in at 11pm i assumed would be fairly quick.

we still havent heard a month on so i called and apparently she is marked as needing a “soon” appointment but the wait is 5 months or at least they said i shoudl get a letter in 5 months so i assume the appointment could be longer.

is this normal? I mean they were talking about her potentially having bleeding causing it!

Unfortunately with waiting lists yes, ask your GP if iron tablets or an iron infusion can be done in the meantime. If it flares up at any time then go to A&E or call 111.
