Letting DS play baseball with a twist...

Just wanting to know if i'm being reasonable about the following game which DS12 and DS15 are wanting to play tomorrow

DS12 has been obsessed with the game fruit ninja on the iPad for the past couple of years. For the past few weeks, he's been watching a lot of youtubers who have recreated the game in real life, using swords and katanas!

DS12 is wanting to recreate the game, but using baseball bats instead (DS15's idea) to make it more safer for them!

They said they'll use some old rotten fruit (and ask around the estate to see if they can have some of the neighbours old fruit too). We've also got a large apple tree near us, which they said they'll pick some rotten apples from.

DS15 has said he'll pay for any additional fruit that they might need and make sure it's all tidy at the end too - he said they've been looking into rage rooms but there's not many available and are a lot more expensive compared to this game

Would you allow this game? I'm tempted to and it sounds like great fun and a good way for them to release some steam whilst being outdoors, but got some concerns about the fruit waste and what any neighbours might think...

I don’t understand the game so can’t comment on recreating it. But I’d definitely skip asking your neighbours for old fruit, it’s a bit odd.

Personally I wouldn’t be cause I can imagine both the mess and the amount of wasps it would attract. But if you’re ok with those things then go for it. They need to make sure none of the smashed up fruit goes into neighbours gardens of course.

it is very wasteful though unless they only use fruit that would 100% be going into the bin.

@Cutleryclaire so they're gonna be throwing fruit around and trying to hit it with the baseball bat, scoring different amounts of points for different fruits (trying to be a ninja)

bumping to see what others think

Will this be contained solely to your garden which is very large so no chance of rotten fruit flying over a neighbour’s fence? If yes then it’s completely up to you. If you’re ok with it and trust them to make good on their promise to clean up then fine, allow it. It would be a massively antisocial thing to do in a public park or a small garden though.

No I wouldn't allow it, purely because the mess will be unbelievable! My dh once threw me an orange, he did it a bit too hard for me to catch so I moved out the way and it hit the wall. It exploded and went absolutely everywhere! We still found bits of splattered orange a year later when we moved out!

I have a lawn full of manky pears they can have!
Sounds silly and I suspect get bored quickly but why not. Only thing is if it in public it might be intimidating to passers by
