Prescribed wrong meds pregnant WWYD?

Hi all,

looking for opinions on this one. Not sure if it’s a big deal or I’m just hormonal 🤣

I’m heavily pregnant and asked for thrush meds from the doctor. When I got home I realised the meds were an oral capsule. This is potentially dangerous for pregnant women.

i rang the GP dispensary and queried this and was told they didn’t know but would phone me back. They never called back.

So I rang the GP surgery today and they told me on my notes that I shouldn’t have been issued the oral meds and not to take them due to being pregnant and that a different form of thrush meds should be issued.

what annoys me is that I had to chase them when they said I’d get a phone call.

I also appreciate that oral thrush meds aren’t life or death but it’s the principal and I still don’t have the meds I need.

is this unprofessional? Should I complain or just let it slide?

thanks

I wouldn't complain it was a mistake likely and they resolved - it'd incredibly hard to keep all that information about every drug, it's reactions, how it works, dosage and who can amd can't it, in your head. Add 10 minutes appointments, having to look at lab reports, hospital letters and it's probably slipped their mind. If there are persistent issues sure but I wouldn't personally.

However they might have a patient experience surgery and maybe mention that they don't chase phone calls up or at least not quick enough (you don't know if they planned to do it the next day - still late but they may need more receptionists or better systems). So maybe do the surgery instead, that way it's low stakes
