School shoes for plantar fasciitis

DS(13) is under a physio for painful walking and has recently been diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. He has been given some insoles he is to wear in his shoes however I’m not sure of the best school shoe to buy for him for the new school year.
Lots of the shoes with good arch support seem to be trainers (not allowed) or older styles which he doesnt want at 13.
Anyone had a child with it and can recommend any good brands?

If he has a documented medical diagnosis, surely school should make an exception and allow him to wear the recommended shoes?

I think it’s more not wanting to stand out/explain why you are wearing trainers all the time at that age
