Nintendo switch or something else for fitness at home?

I can only go out to the gym/swimming/jogging on my own during term time when the dc are at school so I'm looking for something i can ask for for Christmas that i can use at home all year round. I used to love my wii fit but they don't seem to be available anymore. So i was looking at the Nintendo switch but it doesn't seem to be as good which i was surprised at because i thought it would be a newer and better version of the wii. What's the best thing to get? Budget is around £300.

You sit and play the switch, how would you use it to be active? Genuine question because my son has one and none of his games involve him moving, just sitting and playing so not sure how it could replace the gym or swimming. Sorry if I've misunderstood though.

Oh, i thought it was like the wii and you use the controller to do things like boxing, tennis, bowling etc.

Do you have an iPhone? If so I use Apple Fitness. It’s a subscription and I don’t know how much it is on its own as we have it in a bundle with other things. I Airplay to our smart TV in the kitchen once I’ve shifted the dining table. I do HIIT and strength training but there are lots of other things and different length videos. You can design custom plans and it integrates with the Apple watch if you have one. But I have young kids and so my exercise time is 7-8pm after everything else is done so it works perfectly for me.

I have no experience with a Switch, but I would recommend a Meta Quest 3S VR headset. They are within your budget, and there are loads of fitness apps on them, many of which are free.
You can do boxing, bowling, tennis etc on it.
My mum is late 60s and has one. Loves it!

I used to do yoga or Pilates from YouTube when I couldn’t get out.

I have a Quest and there are fitness apps on there. I use a boxing/combat one which is a great workout and also fun.
Some are one off purchases and some are subscriptions but the quest itself has come down in price a lot.

Youtube has many different types of fitness/workout videos you can do from home. Including Nintendo Wii Just Dance series.

Yep, you can get one for £280 now.
I am not at the moment, but I was subscribed to FitXR which is £8pm. Loads of classes on it. Stuff like boxing, dance, Zumba, HIIT. They keep bringing new stuff out.
I love that you can save your scores etc and compete with yourself too,

Yes FitXR is the one I use. I don't have a subscription because I bought it way back in about 2020 so I still have access but not to everything. My quest has been in a drawer for a couple of years but I've got back into it recently and (bonus) my kids are enjoying FitXR too!

Same here. Because I had it way back when, I can still access the older stuff even though I have paused my subscription.
That gadget got me through the Covid times.
I play escape rooms with my best friend now (who lives the other side of the country). So much fun 😁

There are tons of free workout programmes on YouTube.

I have a paid for subscription to a fitness app and just use my phone. I have a good selection of dumbbells and work out exclusively at home.

I thoroughly recommend stuff on YouTube - lots of free videos for Pilates, aerobics, dance, yoga and everything for strength training.
