Two funerals coming up, I am not a heels persons and only own one pair… the same pair for about 17 years 🙈 I’ve taken them to be re heeled today and they are doomed! I’m gutted. Struggling to find similar!

funeral is early this week. Also another next week.

ive ordered a pair from irregular choice (not whacky ones) but they won’t be here on Tues anyway!

side note. It’s going to be 28 degrees. I’m wearing a dress/jacket combo, and I also have a recovering injury on my big toe 🙈

Sandals are fine. Wouldn't give it a second thought

I’d be inclined to wrap up the big toe with a tubular bandage and then it will appear to anyone glancing that you’re wearing the sandals to keep the toe comfortable.

If you’re worried, that is - I wouldn’t give it a second thought, just like @onceuponatimeinneverland said.

I wouldn’t. I doubt anyone would notice but I would feel wrong wearing them. Could you get a pair of Mary Janes in some form? Supermarket or M&S near you?

Yiayoula · 10/08/2025 15:02

Sandals are fine - it’s going to be very hot , you have a poorly foot and there’s likely to be a lot of standing around .
The main things are that you’re in attendance, and comfortable .
Hope all goes well .

Sandals fine.

Fine as long as they're not super strappy. At my uncles funeral, there was a girl actually in the funeral party wearing heeled ankle boots with bare legs and short shorts. Looked hideous and very disrespectful. Next to that, plain sandals is nothing.

At my mum’s funeral, one thing that never occurred to me was to notice people’s footwear.

It was a warm day & I was in a long black dress - I might have worn black sandals with it, I can’t remember. What does it matter?

3teens2cats · 10/08/2025 15:17

The closest family will have far more important things on their minds than what guests are wearing. Unless they have given particular instructions for dress code but even then, people are just usually touched that you came.

MirrorMirror1247 · 10/08/2025 15:18

Not an issue. My dad's funeral was on a very hot day, so I wore sandals. Plenty of other people did too.

Good idea re bandage if you're really concerned.

PestoHoliday · 10/08/2025 15:19

No one will care about your footwear.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Isobel201 · 10/08/2025 15:23

black leather sandals will be fine.

katmarie · 10/08/2025 15:27

I went to a funeral last week. People wore all kinds of footwear from closed toe boots to birkenstock sandals. Nobody cared what anyone was wearing, the family was just grateful people came.
