Going to lose my rag at tradesman

Tradesman who is a friend, ruined our carpet which luckily we were replacing anyway but he got glue all over it. Just had new carpet installed and he's just gone and ruined that carpet too and stained it. I'm going to lose my rag at him. He keeps denting the walls and I've already told him to be careful. He's a clumsy twat!
Any advice how to politely let him know he's taking the piss!

Why wouldn't you just tell him to leave?

'John this isn't working. I appreciate your offer to help but Frank Spencer would have done less damage to the house'.

You should have just paid a tradesman.

He is a tradesman and a friend.

Is he though?

Frankly he sounds like neither.

He's done, what, a grands worth of damage? Ruins one carpet then ruins it again when replaced. Bangs up the walls. Doesn't sound like a friend to me and if he was being paid for his work you'd probably have a claim on him.

I wouldn't be polite. He hasn't been. If be mortified if I damaged my pals home let alone several times. Tell him to get on his bike.

And in future, if Frank Spencer comes back round with so much as a screwdriver, send him on his merry way again.

Because best case scenario he's a moron who couldn't fix a lopsided painting.

And worst case scenario he's got some weird agenda to make you feel like you owe him something for doing something for you, but he actually means you harm and it's coming out in micro aggressions via distruction of property.

Yes, he’s definitely a useless one! 😁

Ask him for his insurance details so that you can claim for the damage he has caused.

Nail on the head. Don't let him get away without paying for the damage he's caused.

Did you have new carpet laid before the work was finished or is this another job? He should pay for the new carpet to be repaired or replaced and I wouldn't use him again!

I’d ask him for his insurance deets and make a claim if you can. Sounds a bit of a tool :(
