Getting to the National Theatre..

If you were going to a matinee at the National Theatre with somebody who couldn’t walk far, and you were coming into London either to St Pancras or Victoria how would you do it? On my own, I’d probably go to Victoria, then tube to Embankment and walk- but that would be too much for her. What would you do? Cost not really an issue but obviously cheaper is better!

If the train is coming in to Victoria would it have to pass through Clapham Junction? If so, you could change there for a train to Waterloo and walk from there?

I’d look to walk from Waterloo / Waterloo East if that’s a possibility.

Honestly, I’d take a cab. Theres quite a bit of walking around just at the theatre itself and it’s such a lively busy area.

If you look at TFL journey planner there is a 'least walking' option you can select to see the route with the least walking (it's default is quickest, but you can change it).

Yes-I’m veering that way. Just have to persuade her I won’t have to get a mortgage….!

The no 11 bus goes from outside Victoria to Waterloo station. To where the cabs go from so if needs be you could take a black cab from Waterloo to the closest they can get to the NT.

If she's able to walk from St Pancras to Euston - you can get a 68 or 1 bus - both stop on Waterloo bridge right by the National Theatre. Probably easiest to get a cab though!

I take a cab. The theatre itself is an enormous rabbit warren, no need to add more walking than necessary.
