What would you do if you had less than 24 hours in Amsterdam?

We’re just passing through on our way to Auckland. I’m a knitter so we’ll be going to Stephen & Penelope for sure, I could fancy doing some other shopping while we’re there, anywhere in particular worth a look?

My DDs are 5 and 3 so I doubt they’ll be interested in anything to heavily cultural but we’re definitely up for a little sightseeing!

Canal trip
Rijksmuseum
Hire some bikes
Have lunch at De Kas

Walk along the 9 canals streets, do a nice boattrip (some are very geared at weed smoking) eat all the apple cake.

Rijks will need booking up first, as would Van Gogh. Boat trip is good. We got a nice one from outside Ann Franks(also would need booking but prob not suitable for little ones)not weed centred. De Pijp is a good alternative to the 9 streets and lots of good cafes and a great market but for serious old school high end shopping Bijenkorf is amazing and their restaurant is pretty good and by amsterdam standards not outrageous.
