Dodgy Drivers - cars too away!

Yesterday, officers from the Oldham Neighbourhood Policing Team joined forces with colleagues from the Road Traffic Policing Unit as part of Operation Considerate. This proactive initiative, which forms part of our ongoing Safe4Summer campaign, led to the stopping of numerous vehicles found to be in breach of traffic laws. Over 30 Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) were issued, and more than six vehicles were seized for various offences. These efforts have made a significant contribution to improving road safety across Oldham.

Just received this through the Bee in the Loop thing the police have for communicating with the public.

The numbers are shocking. Do you think they do days when they don't get to issue TORs or seize cars?

How much time should they spend on clearing uninsured cars off the road? More? Perhaps they should given the general state of driving standards.

We allow such low standards due to slashing traffic policing and reliance on cameras, which often only catch people for speeding with a licence, insurance & vehicle in the correct name.

Does nothing for vehicle defects.

Having watched Police Interceptors a few times, I’d have thought this was fairly routine - via the automatic number plate recognition gadget, clocking cars with no insurance (often the driver has no licence either/has been banned), not to mention crazy speeding, generally idiotic/dangerous driving, etc.

It’s nearly always blokes behind the wheel of course….

And the attitude of drivers that tax, insurance and MOTs are optional extras that they don't want to pay for. Many people seem to think it's OK, just 'them' making us spend more and a victimless crime, until someone gets killed. Taking their car off them is the only thing they understand.
