Does anyone know why both Apple Maps and Google Maps have stopped working on my iPhone XR?

I know, it’s an ancient iPhone but I updated it to the latest IOS the other day. I find that the map apps work if I want to just look at them when I’m static, but when moving they don’t track me well at all. I was trying to navigate to an unfamiliar place in the car today and they were as much use as a chocolate teapot! I have checked the location services- all enabled- and tried turning off and on (!) to no avail. Does anyone know what could be happening and how to fix it please? Thank you!

Did you try to reset your phone? That usually works for me.

@Stefanosgirldo you mean that thing where you press the buttons on both sides simultaneously?

I don't have an iPhone but on my phone I press the button on the right side of my phone, that turns it on and off.
Just long press it until it comes up where you can press the reset button that comes up on the screen and you tap that on the screen and it will reset.

You have to do that now and then with probably any phone model.
After a while if you don't reset your phone now and then it will start to get glitchy

Thanks @Stefanosgirl, I googled how to reset my phone and have now done so- can’t check whether it’s working properly now but will do so in the morning 😊

Good work @BarbaraVineFan , honestly googling is very helpful in almost all instances and especially if you want to know how to do something with your device.
My DS's have asked me a couple of times if I remembered to reset my phone and now if I forget and I notice the phone is misbehaving then I reset it and it always begins to work better.
I hope it works for you ,thanks for letting me know that you tried.
