Suddenly got loads of mouth ulcers?

I haven’t had a mouth ulcer in years and probably have only had a handful in my entire life.

For the past week I’ve been getting new ones constantly. I now have three under my lips and one on my tongue.

They are uncomfortable but don’t hurt enough to ruin my day or anything. I am just confused that they’ve all come on so suddenly. I feel silly going to the GP with something so small but I’m worried what could be causing them when I don’t normally get them.

Anyone experienced similar?

Yes. I had literally hundreds when I had oral thrush. Go to the pharmacy! They might have something, they might send you to the GP

edited to say: probably not literally hundreds 😂
but I had lots and lots of tiny almost pinprick ulcers

Have you felt off colour recently? Any spots on your hands or feet?

I got a few 2 or 3 years ago, I put it down to generally run down, drinking too much and the perimenopause.

Vitamin drinks, changing toothbrush to a soft one, and gargling mouth wash worked for me.

Low iron was my culprit

Thank you all.

The pharmacy is a good idea. I will go in the morning.

I haven’t been unwell and no spots on my hands and feet.

I have been going through quite a stressful time though and have probably not been eating as well as usual so perhaps it could be related to that.

I’ve been feeling tired for quite a few months so perhaps I should check if I have any deficiencies too.

Thank you for responding!

I've had exactly the same happen in the last few days. I'm prone to ulcers but usually it's just one or two. This time, I seen to have lots and some are on the floor of my mouth which I don't think I've had before. They can definitely be triggered by stress, hormones, diet etc. I'm putting it down to a combination of being tired/a bit stressed, my period recently starting, and eating too many sweets last week... Hopefully you find some relief. They're really painful!

I had this a couple of weeks ago, had about 8 ulcers all over my tongue and it was so painful and unpleasant.

I put it down to some horrid virus that my toddler likes to bring home from nursery! But not sure really what it could be. Mine lasted about a week, but the the pharmacy and see if they can prescribe something for you.

Have you got hand, foot and mouth by any chance?
