I’m struggling to get a straight answer from anyone and the consular have not responded to my queries. We’re now going to Japan in just over a week and I’m panicked as I still don’t know what I need to do (if anything) about travelling into Japan with methylphenidate for my son. Any advice? Thank you

Bringing ADHD Medication to Japan: Importation Regulations

  • Carrying Medication on Arrival: Travelers are allowed to bring a maximum of 2,160mg of methylphenidate, regardless of its short or long-acting form. If the quantity exceeds this limit, individuals must obtain a special import certificate.

You might have already seen this. If so, apologies. I see it's dated January 2024.

Thank you. I was getting so confused about all the information about raw stimulants and I couldn’t see what methylphenidate was classified as. We won’t be travelling with that much so should be fine. Thanks again.
