Got my nails done, don't like the colour

I got my nails done with gel polish today which I only do once a year maybe. I don't like the colour though. I wanted a neutral nude sort of colour but they are actually much paler than I thought they would be. DH said "nice, white!' when I showed him. They aren't white but they are a very pale off white nude.
I have an event this evening, can I paint over them in a different colour using normal polish? Or will it not stick? Any advice welcome!

Yes, you can paint over them with regular polish. Done it myself in the past when I’ve not been too happy with the colour.

I’m like this every time I get my nails done. I always think I don’t like the colour, it takes a while to get used to it and then a few days later I like them. I wouldn’t paint over them.
