Fireworks in the middle of the night

Last night, just before 2am, we were woken by the sound of fireworks a few streets away. It went on for quite a few minutes (5 minutes ish) and the fireworks were very loud, big and impressive - like a professional firework display.

It was quite strange so I’m intrigued to know why someone might be setting off expensive fireworks in the middle of the night on a Thursday. Could it have been linked to a specific celebration? Any ideas?

Who knows?! I have every sympathy because this happens to us a lot at all sorts of random times, often when we have to get up for work in the morning. I think firework use has gone mad. I’m not talking about their use for major celebrations eg November 5 or Divali . We seem to have to have them all the time! Also very bad for the environment. Perhaps I’m just an old misery?!

I know random fireworks can mean there's been a drop-off for the dealers. However a 5 minute long display doesn't doesn't sound like that. Strange!

I can never work out why people let off fireworks during the day.

Our local Facebook groups were ablaze (excuse the pun) with the same question this morning too !! If you’re in the Nottinghamshire area apparently it was a wedding !!
