best way to book long distance taxi?

Never done this before but I live in Manchester and need to get to Derby. I would just go on the train but I have an injury and the less stress the better because I can barely walk.

Got a quote from my local taxi firm but what about the way back? I will be traveling back home late that same night but I can't give an exact time which is why I don't just book return. Is it best to get a local firm in Derby for the way back? otherwise I will be waiting outside alone at almost midnight waiting for my local firm to pick me up!

anyone done long distance in taxis before? Best way to do this?

My brother and family had to travel a distance a number of years ago. The local taxi company quoted £85. He contacted an 'Executive Travel' company who quoted him £105.

For an extra £20 he got an immaculate chauffeur driven car. Another advantage was he told them what time they were needed and they were there bang on time. In your case you'd tell them youll be on the X train getting into Y station around x o'clock and they'll be there for your trains estumated arrival time and will wait for you

Not sure what the price difference might be but it might be worth checking out
