Peak District with kids, must do/see?

Im taking DC to the peak district for a short break, only 3 nights staying around Buxton. Im overwhelmed with the options of what to see and do.

I have a national trust membership so hope to utilise that one day.

Would LOVE a walk with waterfalls, pools. We live on the edge of the fens so the scenery will be a big change for them.

Id be really grateful for any recommendations. Already thinking its not a long enough break but finances are very very limited.

We must have been there same time as you! Got back home at the weekend. We were going to do Youlgreave natural pool but apparently it’s dried up / locals have opened the dam?

We also did children’s museum, plus Hathersage outdoor lido, Dovedale stepping stones (lovely but SO busy as was the bank hol and v warm), Bakewell treasure trail, Curbar Edge (fab walk with loads of boulders to clamber although some scary edges!) and cycled the Tissington Trail which was great.

Some fab ideas there @EggbertHeartsTina so much to do and so little time. We didn't go to Dovedale for precisely that reason, had read it was so busy in the summer.
