Antihistamines and best period ever

I read recently on fb that some women had gone to the doctors as had bad pms and were told to take antihistamines and it was life changing. App the body becomes more sensitive to hormones and histamines when on period.

I thought id try as I get hay-fever anyway and had no crying with pms which I get without fail. A much shorter period- 4 days. Normally I'm flooding a towel constantly and have very heavy periods for a week. Is it just a coincidence. Does anyone have any experience of this? Tia.

following with interest as I have spent today in bed (second day in a row) just sobbing and moaning with the pain permanently attached to a hot water bottle and endless supply of feminax. Not even eaten since Saturday morning - I’ll try anything to make this better!!

Sadly not for me. I take an antihistamine every night without fail and I still get crime scenes. Maybe it's because I've been on them for a long time though.

Sounds good though, if it works.. try it again next month and see what happens.

Weirdly I was just reading about this this week as well! I was under the impression it was OTC antihistamines you need though?

I am still definitely going to try it with whatever I have in the medicine cupboard though as my PMS is horrific. Did it help yours?

Is this another one of those oh yeah this works we just forgot to tell women things. I felt like that when I read and tried ibuprofen for reducing a heavy period flow. Info that would have been useful for the past 20 years!

ibuprofen is good for stopping you wanting to pee so much when out on a hike as well.

Yes I had a 4 day period that was ok. Normally it would be a week of a heavy period and flooding towels. Also my pms wasn't as bad. I am going to try it again this month.

Hmmm, I also take antihistamines daily (and in summer quite often more than once a day) and still have horribly heavy periods. Ibuprofen just gives me heartburn if I take it in the quantities needed to reduce blood flow!

Tranexamic acid works though.

Is the hack to take antihistamines for the entire month or just when period has started?
Does it make a difference if it’s loratidine or Ceterizine?
