DS vomited once holiday today...

My DS woke up and vomitted this morning at 6AM , it was clear vomit . No temp , poo was normal last night, can't feel any glands .

We are due to go away today , and I'm torn on what to do. We have a baby and don't want him catching it either . He's had toast and water since and we've had no sick , seems fine in himself .

He hasn't been anywhere or seen anyone since he broke up from school 10 days ago. I have taken them out but it's all been outside for walks etc . So I'm not sure it can be a bug.

I was thinking of waiting until 1 and seeing if he still seems okay . Or would you not go today ? It's UK so we can travel tomorrow but have a £200 shop coming today .

He says nowhere is sore and his stomach feels fine . He was fine yesterday, but didn't eat loads as I was using up food in the fridge and he didn't like what I'd made , his Nan however did give him a magnum, kinder egg and some cake.... He did have toast at 9pm as he said he was hungry. So I'm wondering if he a bit hungry (as I often vomit if I'm hungry) and excited?

Are you going on a Self catering type holiday? I would definitely go in that case.

Coffeeishot · 28/07/2025 08:36

Just go it sounds like a self contained place if the baby gets it they might have it by now, it could be acid reflux and he threw up and not an actual bug.

Yeah it's a self catering holiday in the UK, just over a 2 hour drive from home.

If it’s a self-catering holiday in the UK I would just travel as normal and take a sick bucket, towels etc. just in case. No need to cancel.

modgepodge · 28/07/2025 08:38

I’d go in the situation. My daughter has occasionally vomited once when she’s had too much chocolate/sweets etc and been absolutely fine. It usually feels completely different from when she has a bug.

Coffeeishot · 28/07/2025 08:39

If he says he is fine doesn't feel ill i would go, OR can someone go ahead to be there for the shopping and your son and other person can come later?

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 28/07/2025 08:39

I wouldn't give this a second thought

TwelvePercent · 28/07/2025 08:40

I'd go.

I’d absolutely go, we’ve got on a plane before when it’s been a one off sick during the night before with no symptoms, poo fine, normal appetite on the morning. Could have been excitement- I would definitely go and just have sick bucket in car like pp said. Have a lovely time!

Same as this, it’s 2 hours away by car, to a self contained place - stick some bags/bowls in the car just in case and maybe some wipes or something but if he’s feeling okay now I’d just go.
Chances are if it’s a bug the baby may have it anyway - sounds like it was probably a very mild one so fingers crossed the baby is totally unaffected or at least if they do get poorly it’s a flash in the pan.

MissHollysDolly · 28/07/2025 08:43

Just go! You’re not getting on a plane where you could infect everyone else. It sounds like the excitement/ late night food caused it… but def travel prepared as the others have said - tummy bugs are caught easily from kitchen/bathroom surfaces etc, rather than other people

ThunderyDays · 28/07/2025 08:43

Just go. It’s not a big ffs!! Every time a kid is sick on this site everyone acts like it’s the next bout of Ebola.

Thotnbg · 28/07/2025 08:46

Thanks everyone , going to go as planned unless he's sick more before we travel. The baby was very prem so is a bit more vulnerable which is why I was doubting it more so.
